Excalibur Crossbow is a premier manufacturer of archery equipment and related accessories focused on product innovation and technological advancement. Based in Kitchener, Ontario, Excalibur has been growing rapidly and is preparing for its next level of growth following its merger with parent company BowTech, based in Eugene, Oregon. Excalibur sells its products in Canada, the US and other international markets. Excalibur and BowTech are owned by a leading private equity firm based in the US.
 
 Job Summary:  
 
Lead and manage the accounting & finance department, and partner with the senior operations leader to develop information technology, delivering functional excellence in these areas. Partner with President and functional leaders of sales and operations, as well as Excalibur’s parent-company CFO to deliver profitable growth.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
The Controller is a critical leadership role within Excalibur. Shown below are the key roles and responsibilities for the Controller:
·         Prepare internal financial reporting, as well as statutory reporting
·         Develop and report key performance indicators (KPI’s)
·         Establish and maintain an effective system of internal controls
·         Annual budgeting & forecasting
·         Establish and maintain an effective cost accounting system
·         Revenue cycle management, including customer credit, invoicing and collections
·         Lead continuing development and improvements of Excalibur’s ERP system, in partnership with the senior operations manager
·         Accounts payable & disbursements
·         Treasury management, including borrowings from parent company, as well as bank loans and related covenant compliance and reporting
·         Canadian and US income tax filings and US federal excise tax reporting, working closely with Excalibur’s tax advisors and parent company
·         Obtaining necessary property & casualty insurance, working with parent-company. Renewal of insurance certificates with customers & suppliers
·         Smooth and timely completion of the financial statement audit
·         Support the Human Resources Specialist with government reporting, as needed

Qualifications:
 
·         Minimum 15 years’ experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years’ experience  in a manufacturing environment
·         Demonstrated  10 year(s) of progressively increasing management experience
·         Strong previous experience managing working capital and cash flow
·         Strong financial planning & analysis skills
·         Strong knowledge of cost accounting and experience partnering with operations to analyze and control cost of goods sold
·         Demonstrated knowledge with building effective and efficient processes, leading to a strong system of internal control
·         Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and concepts, CPA preferred
·         Proficient in MS Office Environment, Access, Excel, Word
·         Strong experience with ERP systems
·         Strong problem solving skills
·         Excellent time management & organizational skills
·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential
·         Ability to ensure integrity of data and confidentiality of information
·         Ability to deliver results, meet tight deadlines and targets
 
Working Conditions:
 
·         Typical office environment. 
·         Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends during peak seasons, system implementations or to facilitate meeting other project deadlines
