I must admit; I hadn’t given Excalibur Crossbow’s a fair crack. You see, about 10 years ago I tried one of its recurve-limb crossbows, and I wasn’t impressed. Due to it’s lack of modern eccentrics that generate more power via lesser pull weight, I found it a beast to cock. I could cock it once or twice, but it wasn’t fun. From a treestand it would’ve been quite challenging. It was also very wide. Unfairly or not, I wrote the company off until something changed.
A few weeks ago, however, the Ontario company’s new Assassin model arrived, and now I know what all the buzz is about. Things have changed, and so has my opinion of the 35-year-old company’s crossbows. Excalibur has produced new technology that turns the company’s cam-less negatives into positives….
