Re: Opinions favorite deer cart

I like not having extra equipment to mess with. That's the primary reason I don't normally use a deer cart. Since my drag is less than 300 yards and mostly downhill, I just use the deer drag strap on my Hunter Safety System harness. The harness does a good job of distributing the weight to waist le...

It means you have contracted multiple microsis. I'm afraid it's terminal.
I'm thinking microsis would be a good thing.

For now I only have one Micro 335 and one Macro 350 (ExoMax).

Re: Sought after past models

I still like the looks of the Equinox. I'd buy one if they hadn't came out with that 405 model. Now I'm thinking one of those would be a nice addition. But since I have a Micro, I find it hard to commit to anything wider.

Re: Hawke XB 30 Pro

I just put one on my Micro 335 about an hour ago. Since I couldn't wait to try it out, I tossed three arrows at 20 yards free-handed to get a rough sight in. Then tossed another at 40 yards to confirm the speed setting. Then I backed up to 70 yards and dropped an arrow within a few inches of the bul...

I wouldn't shoot at my 3D deer target at 100 yards out of respect for the target.

Re: OT: Venison sausage

DuckHunt, how long does it take you to make roughly 100 pounds of summer sausage in a season? That's the beauty of it. You don't have to make it the day you process the deer. Its probably better to start with frozen ground deer anyway because a good hard freeze also kills some bacteria types. Thoug...

Re: OT: Venison sausage

Since I first tried making it about five years ago, I've been making at least 100 pounds of summer sausage every deer season. Everyone that has tried it loves it. It saves me time processing deer because its either backstrap steaks or summer sausage so I spend less time cutting them up. I've settled...

Re: 2018 ATA Show

Range it, dial it ,shoot it is no good, here is how the real world works you sit down you range a few trees memorize a few yardages and after many hours if it is your lucky day after many hunts with no harvest you get a buck in that is nervous walking at a good clip and you have about 3 seconds to ...

Re: This close to getting a new XB!

If you're getting over 300fps with a 470 grain arrow, you've got all the crossbow you'll ever need. My first compound bow shot about 218 fps with a 400 grain arrow and even it shot through anything that was broad sided.

The newer crossbows are cool looking though, huh?

Re: Spitfire Performance

Totally a guess here but that is kind of a long shot ,perhaps the deer reacted to the noise and was just starting a sideways push off to run just as the bolt is getting their so the tip of the head is entering but the side ways push off redirects the shaft into floppy side ways action draining the ...

Re: Canada please take your cold back

I couldn't agree more. It's kind of hard to duck or goose hunt when everything is frozen over. It looks like we'll be below freezing for at least two weeks straight. Only one day in the next ten are we expected to get above 22F/-8C and it will still be below freezing.

Awesome buck. I'm not sure I could sit that long in those temps. That's a well earned buck. I haven't attempted an off hand shot on game yet, but I'm ready.

That's a great job on the euro mount and one very unique buck! That is some serious mass around those bases. Congrats on a trophy!

Re: Next season

Just today they started cutting the 300 or so acres of corn surrounding the end of the mountain range I hunt on. This is the latest they have ever left the corn in the field and it totally threw the rut travel patterns for a loop. The doe stayed in or near the corn field and the bucks go where the d...

Re: How hot is too hot for you to hunt

I've noticed the past couple seasons that during the early September doe season that the deer move very little in the afternoon if the temps are above 70F. I still hunt mornings when its going to be warm, but I pass on the afternoon hunts until it cools off. They aren't moving until after dark anywa...
