Re: Questions for any hunter here in NC

I hunt in the Piedmont of NC for the past dozen years. Almost never see any deer until just 3-7 days before Halloween. Even with this great cold front we had the past few days I've seen nothing during daylight hours. This is mostly my experience here as well. I see deer very early in Sept., then no...

Re: Checking Arrows After the Kill

I use 2" feathers - which many people think are too flimsy and fragile. I left a few arrows sit for about a month after putting them through some deer. When I had some time, I cleaned them up. The feathers were all matted down and gross in dried blood. I simply washed out with dish soap and cold wat...

It's that beard !! 😊
They fear it.....what actually happens is they come up to about 20 yards and see the beard and drop over in fear. I have to make up all these shot scenarios.

Good Weekend in NC

My brother in law came to visit this weekend and I took off Friday and Monday so we could do some hunting. Temps were mid-high 60s Friday AM and we hit some public land. We hunted here before, but I had not stepped foot on the property yet this year....and there are a bunch of new homes being built ...

Re: Questions for any hunter here in NC

I'm in Wake Forest. It's been pretty quiet since about the 3rd week of Sept. Seems to happen every year and I can't figure it out. But I was out Fri - Mon this past weekend and finally had deer moving on public land in the daylight. But on private lands where I previously killed...zip. Saw the first...

Re: Looking to update my scope

XB30 Pro SR is what I have and like it quite a bit. I like a lighted reticle and with the infinite adjustment on this I can turn it on just enough in early dawn or late evening so I don't get blinded when it's time to use it. But then I can turn it full on in midday to target shoot and actually see ...

Keith, here is a direct quote from the article " By aiming farther back and at the middle of the bear, from top to bottom", That the middle I was referencing stay off the shoulder
Yep! It seems like middle up and down is key because of all the hair, like you said in your first post.

Re: Saw needed for arrow building?

I have been using the Arbor Freight 2" Mini Cut Off Saw for over 10 years on aluminum and Carbon arrows with confidence. $35 bucks and works perfect! Copy/Paste https://www.harborfreight.com/2-in-mini-bench-top-cut-off-saw-62136.htm This and a squaring tool. When I use my little saw I go a little p...
