Re: Thinking of trying out new vanes.....suggestions?

Try out the True Flight feathers I sent you! :D The initial thought is that they are not durable, but that is not necessarily true. I routinely just wash and dry feathers that have been through animals and re-use the arrow. As for control, I see no difference between 2" feathers and Blazers. ANd I d...

RamCat125 Gr $19.88USD @ Cabelas

Not sure if this was a local thing or not, but they had 3 packs of the 125gr Ramcats at $19.88 at my local Cabelas here in NC. The 100 gr were still $39.99. I asked and they confirmed that was the price and not a mistake. Said they had been marked down for months. I bought them all. :eusa-dance:

Re: Kinetic Energy

SEW makes some good points, but not everyone agrees that KE is the be all end all. I for one look at the momentum of the arrow and not the KE. Arrows kill by going through the animal making penetration the second most important factor for a killing shot next to shot location. Momentum is velocity X ...

Re: Cerra coating

What would happen if I was to polish my rail with a metal polishing paste? This is a German made polish that is typically used for polishing steel molds to a mirror finish. Ron. The biggest buck you have ever seen would be coming right to you and at about 25 yds while still in a bit of brush, see a...

Re: Flemish string issue?

I agree with Boo. The bundles were different lengths causing more stress on one of them. The only other thing would be that the string got nicked or something and that weakened the black bundle. Was the bow in a case by chance? Anything pressing into the string?

Re: Dry fire!

The adf can be added to the long limb bows it is not just limited to the new line of bows a nice peace of mind upgrade that is a easy install. Did this to my Exocet 200 for extra security ! I'll also add that you need to polish the ADF so when you do dryfire your bow it doesn't cut your serving. Ne...

Re: Dry fire!

Dry fired my Vortex once back in the day...with a Flemish on it. Got a single splinter that I broke off and sanded. No other ill effects.

Re: bolts for Bulldog 330

I would get a dozen Zombie Slayers and stick with them. Get heavy inserts up front, 110 grains, and Blazer Vanes. Helical fletched, call Jerry at South Shore, our David at Wyvern Creations, you can also start making your own if you want, not really difficult, and very rewarding. You can get all the...

Re: nap quick fletch for crossbows

I picked up a dozen in Quick Spin, and He'll Fire. I have not shot either yet, but installation was simple, and straight forward. The design is for the folks that don't want to spend a lot of time working on their gear, and are happy spending a little more $$ than time yet still getting good qualit...

Re: nap quick fletch for crossbows

I tried some a while back. Saw some wear on the film from the rail and eventually it got cut through. Also left some residue on the rail. IMO for the price of them, you could invest in an Arizona EZ Fletch and save $$ in the long run. Also, it is rare that all 3 fletches get trashed at the same time...

Re: Very strange!! Arrow test.

You are absolutely right Paul....with these bows 20yd is nothing. I'm limited at my house, but routinely shoot at 40 with my hunting setups. I zero at 20 and then go straight to 40 for all my shooting/fine tuning....especially windage. IMO you can't really get it set at 20. And with these stiff litt...

Re: Very strange!! Arrow test.

I posted up about a bit of testing a while back. There's some super slow motion video of my matrix 380 and my frankenbow being shot. I thought the exact same thing Keith is mentioning but there was no perceivable flex of the arrow on the rail....the key word being 'perceivable'. Paul Great minds......

Re: Breaking nocks

I'm pretty sure the mark is from the rail. The chipping seems odd though. Is there a rough spot on the rail or a seam between the rail and riser that is not perfectly aligned? Run an arrow down the rail by hand and see if you can feel it catch on something.
