Re: Turkey day

You have more patience than I do. I'd be fishing by now. Good luck!

cold weather spring turkey hunting

I have been a spring turkey hunter for 40 years and this spring has been the most consistently cold one yet. There are always a few cold days, and I remember one year when there was snow on the ground on opening morning, but this year has been the coldest overall. During the last couple of weeks I d...

Re: Went for a walk.

It looks like you have a serious deer overpopulation problem where you hunt. You have to accept the responsibility to do something about it this fall. It's a burden, but we expect you to do your duty.

Re: Composite Frame vs Aluminium Frame?

I have an Axiom with the SMF frame and a 350 SE with an aluminum frame. Both bows are equally reliable and accurate, I killed one or two deer every year I used the Axiom and I killed two deer last year with my 350 (the first year I used it). Zero issues with either frame material. I would not hesita...

Re: Quiver on or off when hunting?

I leave it on when I am walking but take it off when I am in a stand. The quiver gets in the way a little bit when I rest my bow on the shooting rail and I have to get down from the stand any way to re-cock my bow after i take a shot, so there's no reason to leave the quiver on.

Re: New to Excalibur Crossbows

I don’t know the nature of the ribbing from others you are taking but all of us crossbowers have heard the BS. Just remember If the bully doesn’t hunt with a longbow in archery season and a flintlock during rifle season then he/she is full of crap. Just hunt! I agree completely! But will go a step ...

Re: Are we nuts?

I agree that with increased speed you also get increased "ethical" killing range, and that is fine, you can't and (shouldn't) stop progress. Before long we'll have 500 fps bows and 100 yard shots will become common. The biggest regret I have about this is that bow hunting will lose some of its charm...

Re: Are we nuts?

Native Americans, Indigenous people, Indians - whatever you prefer to call them (and I totally admire and respect them) used stick bows with draw weights of around 30 -35 pounds on average. They used the straightest limbs they could find for shafts and fastened a variety of feathers for vanes and ad...

Re: Matrix factory string

I hunt with a Vixenmaster string, but keep my factory string handy in case I need a quick replacement. The factory string shoots fine and doesn't require any adjustment, so I could just put it on and go hunting if I needed to. For me, it has a purpose.

Re: Lock and load

Deer, Moose and turkey. I dont think you need 12 guys standing around planning a drive holding 35 Whelens chambered do you? Once you disperse to your watch of course your loaded. And turkey, if you have three guys crawling on the ground through the grass, doesn't it make you feel a bit better knowi...

Re: Lock and load

So when you're in a field, pheasant or quail hunting, only one guy has a shell in the chamber? There are other common sense ways to be safe, staying in line, wearing blaze orange, etc. Sober people who are experienced in gun safety can hunt without shooting anybody by controlling their muzzle and k...

Re: New Matrix 380 in route, question!

i think that procedure is more to stretch a new string than to break in limbs. I doubt that it would have any effect on the limbs.
