Re: My Dec 2017 Buck

I’ve seen a lot of deer over those 10 years of bow hunting but only does, fawns and small bucks. Those are in season during gun week but for my late season crossbow hunting I’m concentrating on mature bucks only. I could take a doe on most of my outings but I like the challenge of getting a mature b...

Re: My Dec 2017 Buck

Hey DuckHunt, it wasn’t that cold. I picked Wednesday the 20th as it was the warmest day that week. It warmed up to about 1 degree below freezing. I have a summit climber with a large platform and large cushy seat so I can sit for a long time comfortably. I had layers of warm clothing on beneath my ...

Re: My Dec 2017 Buck

Thanks everyone, it’s still a thrill that gets the heart pumping.

Hey Ken, thanks. That is only my second mature buck in 10 years so I’m no where as successful as you or some of the others. But like they say, even a broken clock is right twice a day, or twice in 10years for me. :D

Re: How many days have you bow hunted for Deer this season?

2 days for me this bow season in my tree stand. My area is a cedar swamp that doesn’t have many deer until the cold and snow hit and then they seem to winter in there. I lucked out on my second hunt this month. I usually put in about 7 or so days in December.

Re: Length of Excalibur ownership?

I’ve had my exomax now for 12 or 13 years. It still performs flawlessly. I’ll have it till the day I die.

My Dec 2017 Buck

I checked out the weather forecast at the beginning of the week and Wednesday the 20th looked like the day to be out in the woods, clear and just a couple of degrees below zero. I booked the day off work and got to my tree at 11:00am where I took my summit tree climber up to about 22 feet and got se...

Re: Turkey season 2016.

Congrats on some nice birds. Tag soup for me this year. Hardly saw any and when I did they weren't interested in leaving the hens they were with.

I've been using them for 10 years. They are simple so there is noting to fail and they work flawlessly. Good luck with them.

Congrats. I haven't had any luck yet. Been out 4 times and finally saw a tom with 2 hens this morning but he refused to come over.

Re: Bullheads for turkey with the Excalibur.

What if you forget to fold it before you shoot? I've forgotten to load a bolt and dry fired the bow once but no one gets hurt when you do that. I don't even want to think what would happen if I pulled the trigger on the exomax and the broadhead hit the stirrup. Something would blow up in my face. I'...

Re: Bullheads for turkey with the Excalibur.

I agree Paul. That is a disaster waiting to happen. I'll look into some 25" bolts to clear the stirrup. No other option.
