Skarek - We are a hunting organization that has no organized tournaments. Not to say that it will never happen, but our primary objective is to bring crossbow hunters together to share ideas and help promote the expansion of the crossbow hunting seasons.

THE AMERICAN CROSSBOW FEDERATION
The American Crossbow Federation is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of ALL forms of hunting with ALL weapons, especially the crossbow.

The American Crossbow Federation (ACF) was formed in 1996 as an umbrella group from within the shooting sports industry with the mission of educating and promoting additional crossbow hunting opportunities. Since its inception, many exciting new opportunities have fallen into place across the United States and Canada, as more hunters become educated about the benefits offered by crossbows to the hunting community. Now is the time for those pursuing crossbow hunting opportunities to join together and exchange knowledge on their shared interest.

The ACF is focused on providing a proactive fraternity dedicated to uniting individuals from all across the continent who believe the modern crossbow should be just one more legitimate option for hunters in their pursuit of big game animals. The ACF’s prime objective is to educate game managers, legislators and the general public about the crossbow and its positive attributes as applied to modern hunting and effective game management.

In the fall of 2001, the American Crossbow Federation launched its Individual Membership Program along with a new quarterly publication entitled the Horizontal Bowhunter Magazine. The premier issue arrived in the mailboxes of our Charter Members in September of that same year. Since then, it has continued to grow, providing the rapidly expanding number of crossbow hunters from across North America with a much-needed venue for sharing their passion; their ideas; and their personal experiences with the crossbow.

The content of Horizontal Bowhunter Magazine is primarily of a hunting nature with a wide variety of writers from the membership sharing their adventures and knowledge with the other readers. Leaders from the crossbow industry contribute regular columns that cover an array of crossbow topics such as technical tips, crossbow politics, crossbow-hunting adventures and repudiation of many popular crossbow myths.

As an ACF member, we invite you to share your ideas, opinions and successes with the other members in the pages of the Horizontal Bowhunter Magazine. This publication is your forum to share what’s working and what’s not with other crossbow hunters. It will provide you with an opportunity to share your stories and photographs with the young and the old, alike. It will also be our political bond, keeping its readers informed about the latest challenges and successes in the current struggle for complete acceptance of the crossbow and crossbow hunting.

You will receive a Membership Card with your membership package and a new, updated card each time you renew your membership. You will receive an attractive bumper sticker that proudly proclaims that you are a Member of the American Crossbow Federation. You will also receive four quarterly issues of the Horizontal Bowhunter Magazine with each year of paid membership.

The ACF endeavors to unite ALL hunters, while sharing the positive benefits of modern crossbow hunting. Already our Individual Members are asking us to take the lead in filling needs, which they feel are of genuine concern.

Since our inception we have launched the ACF Big Game Register, which is the official crossbow big game record book. This unique record keeping system accepts entries of any animal taken with an arrow regardless of what kind of archery equipment was used in its harvest from any paid ACF members. It includes categories for every animal in the world, even including one for the wild turkey.

A committee of ACF members designed and released the ACF Official Crossbow Shoot Rules for family tournaments. These guidelines have been designed to stress the fun and family value of shooting your bows together, rather than stressing the competition aspect. It encourages members to share their knowledge with their fellows in an effort to make them better shooters and hunters.

These are just two examples of ideas that have come from our members, which were then implemented providing new and needed benefits for the entire ACF membership. We are determined to make a difference by delivering positive change through organization and we would like you to

I've had the pleasure of speaking with Dan on the phone a couple of times.

Dan understands crossbow politics in their entirety. He can put the anti's in their place in the blink of an eye.

In my opinion there isn't a better person for the job.

Are you guys talking about Danny Miller? If so I agree 100%

No they are not talking about anybody as interesting and outstanding as Danny Miller. This Dan is the Minnesota farm boy Dan.

This Dan is interesting and outstanding as well! He does a great job of holding the organization together and filling the pages of Horizontal Bowhunter magazine with lively, entertaining and informative material, some of which comes from ACF members and forum members.

He has helped state chapters get established and is helping me get the Michigan chapter up and running. State chapters are instrumental in promoting crossbow education, legislation and support for our sport as well as preserving hunting rights for all individuals while anti-hunting organizations pick away at our heritage.

If you are not a member of this organization, please take the time to join and help keep us effective and keep the wheels turning.

Maybe someday he'll write a story about the time he shot his glove, lol. I was there. :D

He's done a lot for us xbowers, is truly a scholar and a gentleman. It's been my honor to make his acquaintance.

Thanks for everything, Dan, including the laughs.

I have also had the pleasure of chatting with Daniel J Hendricks and agree that he is an outstanding and very nice person. Even though I am a non-hunter, I have been a proud member of the ACF and have enjoyed the Horizontal Bowhunter Magazine, as well. All crossbow hunters should be a member, IMHO. DJH, keep up the good work and good luck to you. :D

We have filed and received incorporation papers for the new…..

Michigan Crossbow Federation

All hunters in Michigan should have the choice to hunt with a crossbow during archery season. All hunters should be able to feel comfortable in their choice of bow for archery season. This includes men, women and youths.

We need some members who feel they would be able to lend some skills: writing, bookkeeping, organizing, phone work, networking, schmoozing, fund raising ideas, anything!!

Besides yourself, I'm sure you know someone who would benefit from support of an organization that wants to see all hunters treated fairly and wants to see our basic hunting rights protected.

Membership will be $15.00 a year, which will include voting rights, newsletters and other perks as they become available. We are hoping to get a website up soon.

Please help support the Michigan Crossbow Federation for the purpose of:

1. Educating shooters on crossbow safety, operation, limitations and ethical use through workshops and publications.
2. Providing phone and mail accessibility of members for advice, instruction and support.
3. Assuring representation on legislative issues and actions.
4. Creating diplomatic correspondence with archery clubs, teams, and programs.

Please contact me with responses, ideas or just to say 'Hey'.

MICHIGAN CROSSBOW FEDERATION APPLICATION

The objective of this organization is to educate hunters, shooters, and the public about the crossbow and all archery as an effective competition, modern hunting and game management method.

To ensure that the modern crossbow becomes a legal weapon for all hunters statewide that wish to participate in Michigan archery seasons.

Through outreach and education, expand the ranks of sportsmen in this state with a strong emphasis on recruitment of our youth and retention of our aging hunter population.

The Michigan Crossbow Federation will work with all clubs, organizations and hunters to educate and promote safe archery shooting and hunting and defend against threats to our sport.

Membership dues are currently $15.00 per year. Members will be able to vote on issues and programs, receive a quarterly newsletter email with local items of interest, hunting stories and submitted photos. Hard copy newsletters will be mailed to those without internet. Members will be able to list items for the classified section and post hunting and fishing swaps.

The American Crossbow Federation will donate $5.00 of your submitted membership fee back to the Michigan Crossbow Federation. Please join both to support the crossbow education and inclusion efforts nationwide.
