Excalibur Kids Program!

Postby Bill T » Thu Oct 01, 2009 9:07 am

It is with a great deal of pleasure that Kath and I announce Excalibur’s association and official sponsorship of Excalibur Kids. Both as avid hunters and as business people we are acutely aware that our great sport has a problem. Hunter recruitment has been falling behind and not enough young hunters are being recruited into our ranks to replace those who leave us every year. We all have to realize that the future of hunting lies with today’s children; we must strive in every way to recruit them into the lifestyle we enjoy so much.

Kath and I understand that this forum is far more than just another company sponsored chat group. Sure, Excalibur’s forum is a great place to discuss equipment and techniques, but it has also become the focal point for a vast community of like-minded souls who care in a very real way about what is right, and are willing to make a real effort to make it happen. We are thrilled to join with you, our forum members, to offer a new and exciting support system for the health of our sport.

A few months ago forum member Mike Boeh (Mike P as you know him) approached me with an idea for introducing children of limited financial means to the sport of hunting. He presented us with a business plan and had a support structure already in place having recruited several forum members for key positions within the organization. Powerful stuff, but when he said it was for kids the deal was already done.

Mike will be in contact in the next few days to present the program and solicit your involvement. We sincerely hope that you all will join with us to support this very worthy endeavor. We are proud of the Excalibur forum and the extended family that is has evolved into over the years, and we are confident that with your help this effort can succeed.

Let’s all pull together in this and help an underprivileged child to experience the thrill that we love so dearly.

I think that is wonderful!!! I was not raised with hunting in my home and have some family members who still think I am killing babmi ... it is hard to believe I ever started to hunt myself. I think it is great for kids to be introduced the sport and to have an opportunity to learn and hunt even if they can not afford to. These are the kids who need support. In some areas it is a dying sport to the next generation. Some have strict laws about age, many kids live in broken homes that lack these opportunities.

Another reason we think Excalibur is a great company!!! :D

EXCELLENT!!!!

Like Bugs, I didn't grow up in a hunting household. My first experience with a gun was in a wonderful Hunter & Outdoor Education elective offered in our school in Grade 9. The interest was always there, but there were no opportunities, especially for a girl. I'm sure there are many others like myself who would love to have the chance! I'm over the moon to see Excalibur helping to make it happen for the young people!!!

At this point in our lives we can't help much financially, but we will try to help in any other way we can.

Sounds like a wonderful idea. My Dad got me into hunting as a young kid. Pelet guns when I was 12 and got my full hunting licence at 15 years old. My Dad was a cop even. Been a nature freak ever since.

We have a problem here in western australia recruiting new members for our spearfishing club (especially young members ) found by putting up brochures at dive shops and weeding out some of the old stuck in there way farts who would scare of new members we have turned it around. We also have some one mentor the young guys especial when there are alot of sharks around . If they have some one to back them up and show them the best way to tackle a situation, there just so kean .

My hats off to Bill Kath and Mike P. After my injury, archery hunting was a sport that I thought that I would never enjoy again. We found the funds to buy an Exomag but the problem was that I couldn't cock it by myself. My wife spend many hours on the back deck cocking my bow so that I could get ready for archery season and when I mentioned this to the forum, Mike P saw the need and responded without hesitation. A brand new crankaroo arrived at my home 3 days later. That being said, Mike's "plan" to open the door for underprivileged kids is something that doesn't surprise me at all. Mike, your one of a kind buddy. The lives that you touch in so many different ways does not go unnoticed. I know where the hearts of the Excalibur family lies and look forward to seeing the smiling faces of children posted on this forum. I just think that this is awesome :D :D :D .
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

My baby boy whipped up a logo. Maybe the folks at Excalibur could fine tune it a bit.

We would like to make up a bunch of t-shirts to pass out at our fall meetings.

Our association is more than willing to promote this endeavour.
Hope to have some feedback from fellow hunters.

Is there a link to a forum thread where I can find out more about this program and how forum members can get involved or contribute?

If it involves donating used hunting equipment does it matter what brand? Just thinking that this program could be promoted on other forums. I bet if the word was out there enough, many sportsmen would respond. This might be valuable in that I think Excal owers do not want to part with them - ever! LOL.

I havent got much to donate but my time in that I'll promote the program to other sites I visit...
