Looking to update my scope

Post by Phillyarcher » Sun Sep 03, 2017 6:28 am

I know this question has been answered many times on this site. I have a Micro 335 and it came with the Octane scope. I just hunt with the bow and shoot it occasionally during the off season. So here is my question to you guys that have a lot more knowledge with scopes on here. What scope would you guys recommend. I have been looking at Hawke scopes and leupold. My range for hunting normally I shoot is about 20-40 yards. Also I'm looking for one that is better at low light and dusk the age thing is catching up to me. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.

If you want to spend say...220 ish go with a crossbones excellent low lite leupold quality. A nikon bolt is also great 100 bucks cheaper. The bolt is non speed adjustable but it is probably pretty much dead on till 40 yards any way with your micro both scopes are great in my opinion. l have both . I like the simple hash marks on both rather than the "fish net " confusing stuff on some scopes.

I just went with one of the Trophy Ridge scopes as my old eyes finally need the illumination. I sold a Zeiss XB75 and a Leupold Crossbones and put this on and am well satisfied so far. Same scope as a Hawke XB-1 and is made by Hawke .

Leupold is KING! You can watch on line and buy a VX-I 1-4x20 shotgun scope w/heavy duplex for less than 2 bills delivered to your door. Also in a Leupold, don't be afraid to buy a good clean used scope. They are warrantied for life to whom ever . You will love the difference.

I jus got a brand new Hawke XB1 n it won't track worth a rotten tater. I will send it to factory fer a new one. I have 2 Loopy's both VX1 shotgun/ML scopes. One is the 1x4 n the other is 2x7, you can see them from early dawn til its too dark to legally shoot

In my opinion the Nikon Bolt Xr is the best CB scope for the money. It is light, short, accurate, rugged and excellent in low light conditions. Great warranty also.

I just picked up a Hawke XB30 pro SR. I was skeptical about Hawke glass but they have improved a lot. It's not Leupold glass but for crossbow hunting it's more than adequate the multiple aim points are priceless for field hunting... :)

Other than midday hunting / target shooting I'm finding that either the glass is subpar or the crosshairs are too thin (Ziess XB75, Leupold XBones both excellent glass, hair thin crosshairs.) for actual low light use. I like a Leupold VX-1 in either Turkey-Plex or Heavy Duplex. With these you can see the crosshairs till it's too dark to shoot.

X2. The heavy duplex is my fave by far. Also, the Zeis XB75 reticle is small and I thought that it would just disappear at hunting times. Have shot a few hogs this summer with one and it does much better than I had expected. It also is not "cluttered" like the Hawke reticle. But for hunting go for the Leupold with heavy duplex.

I think it's very hard to equal a good or better shotgun/MLer/ rifle scope mounted on an Optimizer. The clean reticle of the XB75 becomes hard to see in lower light situations; but other than that, it's great! Best value is a VXR/Optimizer, imo. I use Duralyts 2-8 on Optimizers on my primary 2 xbows.
If I had to use a dedicated xbow scope at all times, it'd be the rather cluttered reticle' d Hawke XB30 SR PRO. It REALLY needs a cleaned up reticle. What were they thinking? Were they thinking?

I bought one of these after seeing this. It was reasonably cheap and the illumination is very nice. I will see how it does over this early season...

I had to go with a hawke XB30proSR after seeing one on Big Johns bow. I just set it up tonight on my 380. Illumination is good, but near as good as my Vortex was. Understandable considering the price difference between them.

I like the fact that the hawke has aim points out to 100 YARDS. The glass aint bad either. And I find the reticle isn't as cluttered as other hawkes I have seen. So far so good!

Leupold 2-7x33 VX1 Heavy Duplex. You will be happy with it. Use Warne medium rings (steel), they fit well. Good hunting.
