Deer Success

Post by ko4nrbs » Mon Oct 16, 2017 8:34 pm

Both deer killed where I missed the doe last Thursday. Both deer killed today were shot about 20 yards apart.

Got in my tree stand about 12:30. A little spike came by about 2:30pm. Exomax nailed him at 12 yards. Dressed him and took it to the boat ramp (20 minute trip one way) so my brother could pick him up. Dropped off the deer and went back to hunting spot. Got in tree stand about 3;30pm. Doe came by at 5pm. Exomax nailed her. Both shot at about 12 yards. Brother met me at boat ramp again. Gave him the doe and headed back down river. Total time round trip dropping off both deer was about 80 minutes or so.

Spending the night in the boat so I can be in the tree stand early for a big buck I have on a game camera.

The big buck didn't happen by this morning but I did get a button buck this morning for a friend of mine. He let's me hunt his property when I am not on the river. He prefers young and tender!!

The deer are moving quite a bit here in NE Oklahoma.

I really lucked out finding this spot. It is a natural funnel. While in the stand I've got a large creek behind me at 15 yards or so, very deep ravine to my right at 15 yards, steep hill in front of me at 20 yards and the river to my left at about 100 yards. From the looks of the beaten down trail they move through here often.

Going to let things cool off a while and then go back. Give the buzzards time to clean up the gut piles.
