Please go here for information and ordering not all of the information in this thread may be current. http://boocustomstrings.com/

Please read all of this thread if you are interested in one of my strings.

Excalibur Flemish String Prices

Dacron two bundle string $30.00
Fast Flight two bundle 36 or 40 strand string $35.00
Serving using Halo $3.00
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Boo 36 or 40 strand string(includes Halo center
serving and the string material is
composed of 1/3 Vectran and 2/3 Dyneema ) $48.00
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Served on Cat Whiskers(one set) $19.00

Serving is available in BCY(brown) or Brownell(black or yellow). I think that BCYs serving lasts longest but others differ in opinion. Halo serving is available in black, green, silver or brown.

Prices are in US funds and include shipping to anywhere in the world.

Only Dacron my be used on carved limb tips. The use of any other material may cause damage to your bow or yourself! If you are unsure about what you have then ask me.

I will reserve any string with BCY or Brownell that I made for $8.00 which includes postage. Halo serving is $11.00. For Cat Whiskers $19.00.

Regardless of who's string you use keep the loops waxed. The factory wax works for the serving and the loops. I also like compound bow string wax like BCY's ML6, Bohning's Seal-Tite and Daltons on the loops.

Re STS: I really believe that an STS and a 40 strand string without whiskers is a great balance of speed, noise and shock. I am sure it will also protect your limbs on a dry-fire as well.

Contact me at Flemishstrings@gmail.com to talk about what you might want to order.

The upper limb has a mag tip and the lower limb is a carved tip which can only be used with Dacron

Serving and whisker colour choices.(while quantities last, they are hard to get in different colours) If no choice is made I will use black.

An important note to you guys who are new to crossbows. Dry-fires are more likely in the beginning of the learning curve. It is a real possibility and can likely result in damage to your bow if you are using a Dynaflight, Fast Flight or Boo string. Do yourself a favor and get a back up string like the one that came with the bow and take a year to 6 months to make it second nature to put an arrow in your bow and double check that it is there and seated properly. As I said earlier an STS I believe will help as well to protect your limbs and will definitely lower noise and shock.

Finally, making strings is not what I do for a living. It is a hobby only. I own and operate a really busy shop and have other interests as well. That being said sometimes strings can take a bit of time to make taking 4 to 8 weeks to complete.

It has been a great pleasure for Patti and I to shoot Don's strings. Excalibur has done a super job providing us with excellent crossbows and boo's strings certainly add shootability, reliability, attractiveness and high quality materials to any Excalibur. Email and shipping is super fast too.

Little Secret,
Want to cut down the noise in your Excalibur and only loose 3-4 fps(chrono verified) in a Max or Equinox, less fps loss in a Exocet or Phoenix? Then ask Don for his secret whisker option, done like no other, very neat and well placed. More of a thud instead of a sharp crack. Both my Vortex and Equinox sport this option...sure helps. Does not elliminate all sound, but a noticable reduction for sure, and without bolt speed loss.

I am all stock right out of the box as of now, shooting 2216 with a 100grn. spitfire and I'm impressed so far with what I have. What string would you recommend for my set up? I know you can't shut a xbow completly up on noise, but then again I don't want to cause that's CHARACTER in my book. I like to be heard anyways  I'm refering to string life and fps gain. All I have to say is I'm in love with my Xbow and it's performance I just want to add a lil' class to her.

I second that!

I have 4 of Don's (Boo) strings.

My new one has the whiskers on it.

I wouldn't want anything else now.

This maybe a dumb question and I am in no way doubting the quality of these strings but why is it important to reduce the noise of the strings? I've never really considered my crossbow a reloadable weapon up in a stand .... should I? I sort of thought it was a one shot deal.

silencing strings

Postby Boo » Mon Feb 04, 2008 2:48 pm

DanO. I like noise reduction because I despise the noise that a stock bow makes. I also think that you can reload a bow from a tree stand but you gotta be careful. I know a few guys that do it from a seated position. I was at Pydpiper's place and he was sitting on his butt shooting and cocking with no effort at all. Personally I hunt from the ground blind or stalking. I also believe after a miss or a hit a deer from 100 yards plus hears a stock bow. A buddy of mine shot a deer at twenty yards with his Phoenix, Xcel string, cat whiskers and STS. He herd the arrow thump the deer. I've shot deer early in the morning and left them laying on the ground in hopes of another deer. A silenced bow may be of use if a deer is on the trail of a doe or a competing deer. Who knows?
