I practice off hand shots. It payed off this fall, I shot my buck at 29yards. I was able to slowly move bow to off hand as the deer moved through cover. I had the cross-hairs on him and when he stopped . . the arrow was on its way. No hesitation or worries about an off hand shot with all the practice.

When the wood is still a blank I found that drilling a small hole straight down in the center of the wood every 6" inches helped me keep the center of the piece while filing it down. You can easily fill the small holes later when not needed. :) Thanks, great idea, will measure out the holes fo...

Northern Huron County

Very slow, have not seen very many deer . . only 8 or so all season, heard a couple others, all in the last 10-15 minutes of legal shooting time. I have not seen any fawns. Even my Amish neighbors are talking about lower numbers and not seeing as many does and fawns. Their large gang did not use all...

I still have a Wolverine, bought it new over 20 years ago. Have had no issues in all those years. All I've done over the years was change strings. I still remember the one 11/2 year old buck I shot. It was a 22 yard quartering away pass through shot, the arrow shattered the front leg exiting the dee...

My ultimate Trail Marker

To keep from getting turned around in the dark, I mark my trail in with 10-12 inches of trail marker tape on a cloths pin. You can quickly clip them on branches, on the way in to your stand, an most important remove them on the way out again. For marking blood trails they are again quick and fast to...

Zipper lube is available. I have some for use on my sport dry suit's water proof zipper. Available at most kayaking/canoeing paddling stores. The container has a brush on the disspencer to work the product into the zipper.

What a lucky shot. . .
42 yards - sound of bow shot got there in 0.112 seconds
42 yards - arrow got there in 0.36 seconds if arrow speed was 350fps

Deer had 0.248 seconds to react

Years ago when they offered the International Bow Hunter Education Course here in Ontario, they stated that 80% of the deer shot at 21 yards or less where found within 100 yards, move out to 26 yards and 80% of the deer are not recovered inside 100 yards. Every time I pull up my crossbow I'm reminde...
