I can't speak much for myself as this is my second year hunting and the 1st year hunting this property that I have. Old kid might be able to tell you a bit as he's been hunting here for quite some time. I know he currently has 4 deer including 2 nice bucks. I also know he has seen several more bucks...

You should of shot it. Let's put it this way. He never got a chance to make a 3rd attack . Beauty hide and a real nice size animal. Didn't have my digital camera so he made it to the skinners before I got a photo. The farmer here has asked me to remove any because they have stirred his horses...

My rattling needs practice...or does it?

Had no intention of rattling this morning. Was sitting on the edge of a corn field with a doe decoy out. This farm (the only one I have permission to hunt) has gone dead dead dead the last 3 weeks. I have only seen one deer in 3 week( he just happened to be the biggest whitetal I have ever laid eyes...

A 1st for me.

I asked a friend of my wife's for permission to hunt their land and they politely said "no". Tonight we got an email saying that I could go mess around in the back fourty. She wasn't clear about hunting though so I asked for clarification. Her response was, "I don't really want bambi ...

Thanks Red Label for showing the way

When I bought one of these decoys I thought to myself, "self, what the hell kind of deer is going to come to this thing?". http://www.hunt101.com/img/219823.jpg [/img] Thanks to Red Label, I now know what I am looking for. http://www.hunt101.com/img/218102.jpg Red, can you tel...

Carl, if the deer was officially weighed in, I wouldn't know about it. The fellow in the pic is a friend that I grew up with. His dad sent the photo to my dad last fall. Where it was weighed is not known. It could have been at the butcher shop for all we know. I guess there may be no official score ...

Here is my wolf stock. http://www.hunt101.com/img/109448.jpg Problem I have found is it is like taking a nice shiney car into the bush. This stock is acrylic paint with a clear coat. If you are just looking to make the bow a little more stealthy you have a couple of options. You can get some ...

Here is a deer that was taken in Alberta last fall/winter. The guy in the picture is over 6 feet tall (for a reference). The dressed weight was 328lbs.

Congrats on the deer. started out with Muzzy 100's and they shot 4" low and to the left at 20 yds versus my field points. Last season, I ended up wounding a deer and did not find it. Wanting to not repeat that experience , Did you sight in for the muzzy's or did you leave your field point sight...

Damn!!! I am leaving tomorow for a hunnt with family in Lanark. One of the properties we are hunting has a big bear hanging around also. May the bear scent is everywhere and is keeping the deer spooky. Damn I hope they settle down before I get there.

Good thing it didn't happen in Canada or they would have banned crossbows immediately. Wonder why they never banned knives, bathtubs or cars? They all cause way more deaths than guns etc... As long as these Liberal POS are in power, hunters will be targeted. I do seem to recall Paul Martin saying (b...

GaryL, he did not bring it to me for cleaning. He dressed this one himself but I have some info that some of you may need to take sitting down. Are you sitting yet? HIS WIFE DRESSED THE SECOND ONE FOR HIM!!! Yep, you are reading correctly. To be honest, she is twice as fast with the knife as he is. ...
