Re: Blind heater
I use a Mr. Buddy heater. I have also used a metal five gallon bucket. Cut about five 3/4 inch holes around the bottom edge for air supply. Put all the holes in one area, not all the way around, so the wind doesn't blow out the candles. Light a couple short candles in the bottom of the bucket. Put a...

Re: Stock
Why not just get a stock from an Equinox, Vortex or Ibex?

Re: What’s the best replacement scope?
I use Leupold 1.5-5x20's on two Excals and Leupold 1-4x20 shotgun scopes on the other two Excals. All have heavy duplex.

Smallest deer
Last night I had a nice sized doe under me that I normally would have shot had I not seen the fawn that was with it earlier. The fawn was the smallest deer that I have ever seen this time of year. It is only half the size of the other deer from this year. It still had it's red summer coat and all of...

Re: long limber
The long limb ones feel right to me too. I have two Equinox, a Vortex, and a Phoenix.
Before I got an Excalibur, I handled my nephew's Matrix 380 and a friend's Equinox. I just liked the feel of the Equinox better.
I have no intention of changing at all.

Re: Leupold optics
Be careful on E-bay. There are a lot of fake Leupolds on e-bay. I even saw a fake 3.5-10 at a gun show last week. It had VX3 on the box, but VXIII on the scope. Turrets were 1 click = 1 minute. Leupolds are 1/4 minute clicks. Five numbers and letters in the serial number. Leupold uses six numbers an...

Re: bolt length for an Axoim
An Equinox takes 20" arrows and the rail is two inches longer than an Axiom, so the end of a 18" arrow on an Axiom should be the same place that a 20 inch arrow is on an Equinox. Just make sure weight of arrow is at least 350 grains.

I also use the Kwikee Kwiver 3. It is only about half the width of the four arrow quiver.

Re: “Thoughts on Sunday Hunting”
The only things we can hunt on Sundays in PA are foxes, coyotes, and crows. We can only hunt crows on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This year, firearms deer season is going to start on Saturday instead of Monday. It has been on Monday all of my hunting life, since 1962, and even before. It looks ...
