Hi all, I'm a new forum member

Post by DH »

Hi all, joined a few days ago and waited patiently for my comfirmation email which didn't come so after 4 days i tried to log in and I'm in. I hope this doesn't upset the moderators. Anyways I just bought a new Equinox, I have never shot a crossbow before this and I couldn't beleive how easy and accurate these are, after a few shots to dial in the scope I'm hitting bulls eye quite often. So as most newbe's I'll probably have a few questions and maybe even a few stupid ones so I hope you can bare with me. I hope to hunt moose and deer with it so I'm hoping for some advice if anybody can give me any. And by the way I found out the hard way why you need to keep your thumb low on the stock, it hurt like crazy. I did it on my second shot and had put it away for a few day's till the swelling went down.

Welcome to the forum!!!!!!!
Fingers can be vulnerable, too. Not with an Excalibur, but several years ago I learned the hard way, too. 6 stitches & 2 broken bones in my little finger.
One thing for sure, you remember those lessons!!!!!!!!!!

Wecome. Enjoy your Equinox. You'll find that shortening the cocker rope quite a bit, so that one side is about half way beteen riser than trigger (when the other is hooked), makes it much easier to cock. Hook the string on your strong side, run the other hook around to the weakl side and hold it, then raise the string/ hook with your stong hand to hook the other side. That way you pull with your legs and reduce the distance of cocking with your elbows bent. Watch the vidio from Excal for demonstration. As you likely know, this is a lot of bow to pull so every little technique helps.

Welcome to the forum. Ask as many questions as you wish, we were all newbies at one point. Someone will have an answer for you.
