removable tree steps

Post by rutman »

Does anyone know what company made the tree steps a few years back that hung on a 12mm headed lag bolt and were removable as you descend from your stand. I would really like to get hold of some more bolts.

Good question!
Those are the ones they used in the Excalibur video.
Tried to find some with no luck.
I use the folding deluxe ones.
The fold down twice easy to carry.

Can't remember the name, but I believe they stopped making them. There was a thread on here a while bcak about these steps.

Excalibur used to first make those in the 90's. Call Peter to see if they have, or know where replacement bolts can be found. Maybe time consuming a bit, but a similar bolt from Home Depot or the hardware store can be ground down to a six sided 12 mm on a bench grinder. Thats what I did many years back to make extra's. I still have those steps and bolts.

They were called Sky Hooks.

I think Bill had them and then sold out to API. API quit making them. They go for a premium on eBay.

I've got a couple dozen and they are great.

I have a pail full just siting there; maybe even waisting away.

We switched to ladder stands; so they are waiting for adoption!

Your right
And yes they are great as a deterent from stand thieves and others using your stand when your not. I love them, especially on the properties I hunt.
Thanks for the reminder on the name it will make my quest for bolts easier I'm sure.

If anyone on this forum wants to part with some bolts or steps and bolts feel free to contact me. I have two more stand locations that are haunting my dreams and my other ones are too good to mess with.
