Just made a similar decision. I chose the Ibex based on being 5' 7" and finding it hard to fully cock the larger bow. How tall are you? If you are 5' 10" or more go with the bigger bow,
cheers,

Really it has come down to the energy it takes to cock the bow. I also want to be confident that I can take that shot at 40 yards.

Cocking either one should be no problem for you !
As far as a 40yd shot goes...any of the excals will do that !!
I choose the ibex because I like to target shoot ! Cocking that 200 pounder 30 - 40 times would be a little more on my old back than I would like !! Just something to think about.
Either way you can't go wrong !!!
Good Luck !!!

Vortex or Ibex, Ibex or Vortex ? Why fight the decision buy both of them they're great models  I guess it depends on how strong you are & how many times in one shooting session you want to shoot.

I shoot both Phoenix (plain-stocked Ibex) and Vortex. Favor the TH stock on the Vortex, flatter trajectory; sweet trigger on Phoenix, slightly easier draw has me shooting it more.
Vortex, Phoenix, single-shot rifles and handguns.
Incurable tinkerer.
Why hunt? Simple, it's BASIC. Why breath?!

Vortex.o Power! Easy to draw with rope. I weigh 183 and I am normal build, no he-man and it's 200 lb. Draw is not a problem. 30 yds. Same arrow, shooting stick,5 arrows shot, 1 in. Groups. Same hole TWICE!!! Scouts Honor!
