Evening turkey hunt success

Post by longbow joe »

In my state this evening was the first night to hunt turkey all day.
I came in stand at 4 toting an Italian hoagie and bag of chips I figured at least I can sit in the blind and munch out.
Set up decoys open up screens to shoot get calls ready..I really rely on my box calls.
I make my first series of yelps and this guy's coming in fast..40 yards..30 yards and then 20 at about 15 yards l swatted him with the vixen in the beard area head on ..he turned to run and got about 10 feet ...to my left a doe is watching the whole event.
I ate my hoagie with a smile before leaving the blind.

Watched the whole thing enfold and didn't leave till she smelled the onions 🙄 from my hoagie I presume.
If l was probably a minute later coming in the whole thing probably would have never happened.

Way to go!
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

None of you been "tury" hunting I see.
They are the ones that you see when you only got about 4 hours of sleep the night before and you shouldn't be hunting. Lol.
In the fall we can tell a "der" hunting story.
