Safety Lever
Has anyone made or is there something to extend the Safety Lever so it's easier to flip to Safe for us fat fingered guys instead of trying to get under the ADF lever??

Hmmm, I might be able to come up with something 3D print-able.

Re: Safety Lever
what about an adapter like the one you can use on the hammer on Winchester or a marlin 30/30 ???
that goes to the side , ?? it could be put on either side, that could probably be done with a 3d printer

Re: Safety Lever
I like the idea. As papa bear mentioned it would be nice if it could be used on either side. A couple of my wood stocks make taking the safety off a little awkward.

Re: Safety Lever
That's what I am looking for, something on the side to make it longer and away from the ADF.. So if someone can come up with anything I will buy and try!! Yes the Hammer extensions would be great but the thread size is to big to drill in the side of safety to have anything for it to grip to..
So if you make a knob and drill both and go with a 4-40 thread I believe it will work..

Re: Safety Lever
If you go to a good hardware store they sell small aluminum spacers in the hardware section I'm sure one of them will fit or you can drill out more inside to fit one side of the lever and epoxy it on.
Just make sure it doesn't interfere with the down safety position.
I take my Adf off all my bows don't care for it but I'm Not advocating that type of behavior .

Re: Safety Lever
Good idea, I had one on a Marlin lever .35 Rem. years ago, look up "hammer spur extension", might give you an idea and I'm sure it would be something pretty simple to make.papa bear1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 4:34 pmwhat about an adapter like the one you can use on the hammer on Winchester or a marlin 30/30 ???

Re: Safety Lever
I can’t see why you can’t drill the lever and install a small bolt. But keep in mind that the easier it is to use, the easier it is to go to fire accidentally

Re: Safety Lever
Excellent point because because increasing the safety footprint size may contribute to an accident down the road.

Re: Safety Lever
It would probably be a lot easier to get it snagged on brush or clothing and that in itself would probably be a good reason not to modify it. I think I'll just keep using mine the way it is. Maybe reshape the wood stock so it's easier to get to the safety lever. I left a 1" block of wood there for the cocking rope and probably could cut a piece of it off. On my next stock I'll design it differently.
Take care

Re: Safety Lever
I built two different versions to try on a Micro 355, the first was from 3/8" aluminum rod and used an M3 screw to hold it together. There is very little clearance between the stock and the safety lever when in the down position. It did tilt a bit when tightening up.
The next one that I tried was made from 3/8" plastic rod, the knurled part measured around .245" so I dropped down to a letter C drill bit that was running around .242" for the hole. I drilled it near the edge of the spacer to be able to rotate it and maintain clearance on the bottom. It is a slip fit onto the round parts coming off of the lever.
If you wanted to install them in a semi permanent fashion you could always add a drop of epoxy before pushing them home. It does not seem much easier to snag than the ADF extension, although if you are wandering through really brushy stuff then there is the possibility of getting it flipped to fire, so if you do decide to add an extension due to wanting to make it easier to use, then watch it for snagging accordingly.

Re: Safety Lever
I kept an elastic around the handgrip and pulled it over the safety to prevent snagging many times in the past.

Re: Safety Lever
Great idea for when moving through thick brush. Also having an extra elastic or two on hand is never a bad thing. I'm working on an extension today and will have an elastic or two around the grip. One to hold the safety and an extra just in case.
Thanks for the idea
