electronic dog collars

Post by spike »

I'm thinking about getting an electronic collar for my Brittany spaniel (and perhaps for my Griffin) as a training aid. Sport Dog & Dogtra both seem to have good reviews in terms of performance and customer service. I don't need a unit with a very long effective range - 500 yds would be about the most I'd need. Neither of my two dogs are aggressive or pig headed.

I like the Dogtra for the sleeker collar but it doesn't appear to have a "tone" function which may be a drawback.

Thoughts ?

thanks

I use mine for reinforcement of commands. It is normally on number one so its more like a Dr Ho stimulation. Mine is a Sportdog model SDT00 13857 aka Sportdog Brand Fieldtrainer 425 Remote Trainer https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00EE13P7Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 My wife's dog is sometimes a first class azzhole and she wears a Sportdog SD-425S-E It is for stubborn dogs. Normally it is used at the first level but my wife's dog on occasion need some extra reminder.
Our most recent E collar is our 4th one. The previous collars were given away to other people and still working today so I think the Sportdog line is a good one but don't know much about others. Sportdog was recommended by a springer breeder. Both models have tone only.
Some people just like stepping on rakes
