NAP do not recommend the spitfire out of the Exomax as the acceleration is too severe and there is a chance the blades will open. Their website used to say they would not open even at 400fps but NAP told me that they have a Exomax and the test results are inconclusive.

Out of curiosity, anyone ever noticed if a vixen is quieter than the exomax? it makes sense that it would be, just wondered if you could actually hear the difference?
Thanks Steven

The 343fps is with a 475 grain bolt, if the weight was dropped to 400 grain I cant see the bow shooting any faster than 365fps and to do 380fps the guy would have to be shooting a 350 grain bolt. I very much doubt that Great Lakes recommend bolt weights under 400 grains. In the end the actual speed ...

My strings on my Excaliburs last as long or longer than any other crossbow I own or have owned. The only thing I do is use Tenpoint rail lube to reduce deck friction instead of wax. The best thing is the strings are simple to change not like a compound.

Crazyfarmer, the block has taken a few shots in the same place allowing the bolts to go in further. Even when that block was new at 30 yards the bolts would almost go up to the fletching. Like Swede said also there is not allot of difference between penetration in the block from 30 yards to 85yards....

I cannot remember if the target was in the bottom of the scope, all I know is at the 120 yards I was aiming at a point up a tree for the bolt to arc down and hit the target at the bottom. This 120 yard shooting was just a one off, I tent to go no further than 85 yards as that all my scope will allow...

Check my post on slicktrick you cannot beat them for accuracy. I have shot spitfires over the years and they are very accurate. However, NAP told me that no crossbow would open the spitfire blade because they had been tested at 400fps. I was told only last week by NAP that they have an Exomax that t...

Wabi, there is no doubt if you know the exact distance and your sight allows you to adjust that far the crossbow will be very accurate at 100 yards. The problem like you say is the looping at that distance is unbelievable. As the bolt has slowed down quite a bit at that distance the drop between +/-...

Slicktricks

I thought I would sight my Max in at 85 yards with field points and see what happened when I put slicktricks on. Out of 7 goes shooting two bolts each time below was my best group. I had another couple of groups similar and the worst group was about 7 inches. Had I not been shooting free hand and us...

I shoot at 18 inches from my chronograph and mark the speed with a fine tip marker on the vane.

Lonewolf, you have got me thinking now I am not sure if it was 2000/01 when I bought my Maxpoint. I then bought a Paradox later just to have Excaliburs name, it has only fired 6 shots I keep it as a piece of history. My maxpoint has the gold flight deck has yours? when I bought the paradox the colou...

Bigbird-VA the difference between your foc will be huge on them two bolts because the thunderbolt is shorter which reduces foc, the thunderbolt is 2 grains per inch heavier than the goldtip which will reduce foc again. Now the goldtip I guessing by the weight you quoted has a brass insert which is 9...
