scope

i was thinking about maybee buying the newest scope made for muzzleloaders--but i think i will stick w/ a conventional 1 recticle scope. i may try a bushnell elite. i almost bought the pro hunter--but instead got the triumph. i dont have a need to change out the barrels. i like a heavy scope--i may ...

How do you think the head will hold up on a direct shoulder shot. I prefer the chiesel type head on fixed blades. I'm worried it will bend.

nocks

i wanted the pro shop to cut them off but i got that look from the owner. i would of paid greatly for that service but he siad that the hf nocks extend up thru the shaft(or something like that). i will try the boiling water or hair dryer to see how much trouble it is.

I have a pvc tube made up with 2 caps ( 1 cap has hole drilled thru it ) and piece of foam inside. I load the the foam up with silicone lube . Dip the arrow in and shoot. Silicone will not harm your arrows . I have seen others use a bar of ivory soap . i have the same tube but i use SLICK 50. i dip...

STEELHEADS

yes sir-you are correct-they can be changed. however, i tried once to change the blades around 95/96 w/ the first rocketheads that came out and i just find it easier to just use a new head. most of time i fail to get all the blood/dirt/grit out of the slots and i will get 2 out of 3 blades to close ...

i would stay w/ they slick tricks. if you have to use expandables-ive had GREAT success w/ rocket steelheads. the only downside to them is they are one shot deals.

IF SLICK TRICKS worked fine-then why change? the spit fires will give you a slightly larger cutting diameter. if it aint broke--dont fix it.

butt out

i really dont see a need for one also--but(no pun intended) , when i process the deer myself, i leave the anus and bladder in the deer. it never gets touched. it gets discarded w/ the hide and feet and the non edible meats.
