I am currently using pins and those are the groups I get and I am happy with them. In a hunting situation I have been setting myself up for 20 yard shots and will take a shot at 30 yard shot as well. I am not hunting at 40.

As a word of caution, if you hunt turkey in Ontario, those blunt points may not be used. Just as for deer, you must use a broadhead with a minimum "22 mm (0.87 in.) wide arrow head with at least 2 cutting edges that are sharp, unserrated, barbless, straight and made of steel". The requirem...

Based on the photo, am I correct in presuming that the Devestator required nocked arrows since it does not have a rail? Did Bear-Jennings promote this design as being somehow better than crossbows with rails?

Aiming Low

Does anyone compensate for a change in bolt trajectory by aiming low when shooting from a tree stand?

Evan, I found the trigger pull quite acceptable, much lighter than the trigger pull on a Tenpoint that I recently shot. You are right though, My Exocet's trigger pull is a tad lighter. What impressed me about the Great Lakes was how much faster and flatter it shot than the Exocet. Accuracy was just ...

Great Lakes Crossbows

I was at my archery range today with my Exocet and the owner handed me his Great Lakes crossbow to try. WOW, was it ever fast and accurate. Just for fun, I took my first shot at a 3D deer at 75 yards and nailed it right in the vitals. My Exocet was jealous! You can check them out at: www.dartonarche...

Disipator Bars

My older Exocet does not have dispator bars, but I understand that they can be installed after the fact. I know from the Excal website that they are supposed to dampen sound with no effect on arrow velocity. How much should I expect to pay for dispator bars and are they worth it?

Thanks Digger. Does anyone have a pic of the front sight? I presume it is fibre-optic pins? My 1996 Exocet came with plain ol' brass pins. Are the fibre optic pins significantly more visible than brass under low light?

Fibre Optic Sights

In some of the threads I have seen fibre optic sights mentioned. I was wondering what these sights look like, but I cannot find them on the Excal website. Could some please post a pic of their fibre optic sight set up (front and rear sights)? Thanks! :)

Crossbow sling

Can anyone recommend a type/make of sling? I used to have a web and nylon sling that I bought with my Exocet, but I got rid of the sling because the webbing made squeaking sounds. I'm thinking of a plain old 1 inch leather sling.

Perhaps it is a secret kind of fibre-glass  My first exposure to crossbows was an old Astro-Daco, whose limbs seemed to shed fibre-galss splinters with every shot. No splintering on the Excalibur!

What are Exocet limbs made of?

What material does Excalibur make its limbs from? Is it fibreglass or some sort of composite?

The Bowbug sounds interesting, wonder how much it costs? By the way, whatever happened to those Gametracker string devices that were around in the late 1980's? Anybody ever heard of a Gametracker attached to a crossbow?

Its on my mind all the time. To make matters worse, I have access to 2 or 3 new properties this fall, meaning 2 or 3 new deer puzzles to solve... locating bedding areas, feeding areas, timing of deer movements, stand locations, wind patterns. If it wasn't so much fun it would be stressful! -Ninepoin...
