Re: Excalibur crossbows ( on the left side of the page)
Been a while since I looked at the list. Wow! The herd has really grown in the Bowtech era, and that's not counting the Stryker offerings. I'm seeing a lot of Excaliburs that are shades of the same thing. Must be hard to decide if buying a new bow these days.

Re: My 4 Generations of Crossbows
Cool! I used to have a Scorpion with the laminated stock and rudimentary peep sights. At some point it ended up with a cracked stock (can't remember how I did that) and the limbs started splintering (they had a tendency to do that). I ended up giving it to Digger.

Re: Why so much upgrading??
Or if your like me... just too cheap to spend more money when my have can shoot diagonally through a deer and still bury the arrow in the ground.TPM wrote:Actually Paul we're more like the poster children for "we're usually broke and can't afford to fix it".

Re: ground pounders
I've been increasingly hunting from the ground ever since my wife took up crossbow hunting a several years ago. She's scared of heights. I've successfully used pop-up blinds and box blinds, but more lately I've been planting my butt on the ground at the bases of trees and dead-falls, turkey hunting ...

Shed hunting success!
Well, sort of... Once again my labrador has proven she has a nose for antlers. What she found for me this time were 2 racks, complete with sawed-off skulls and screws! Judging by how much the critters have eaten and the rusty screw, they've been outside a long, long time. Why somebody would have wal...

Re: The Close Shot
Shoot for double-lungs and use your main crosshairs. If you really want to hold low, make sure you still HOLD ON FUR AND IN STILL IN THE KILL ZONE. Try testing this yourself and I think you will find that the difference in POI will be no more than 2" if at all. The "hold-low-on-close-rang...

I use the same method as Species does.
However I used to know a guy who made his own points, similar to the ones below, to decapitate ruffed grouse with his vertical recurve bow.

Re: OT - Video "The Science of Internet Trolls Explained"
Good post Sandman, but I fear those members here who need to take its advice the most are the least likely to do so. Even though they complain bitterly about the troll, they have in the last couple days started at least two separate threads anticipating and announcing his arrival. So much for "...

Re: Is 40 Yards Too Far?
Just keep in mind that 40 yards at the practice range is NOT the same as 40 yards in the forest. Once you start shooting 40+ yards, the height of your arrow's trajectory above your line of sight becomes a significant factor to consider. Despite what looks like a clear shooting lane through your scop...

Re: Who Hunts in southern Ontario??
I lived and hunted most of my life in Niagara (WMU's 88 & 89). In terms of deer numbers and success rates, you would be better off driving 1 hour south of Toronto than driving 1 hour north of Toronto.
