South Shore - Spynal Tapps

Bought a dozen of Jerry's Spynal Tapp Arrows, and honestly they are the most consistent arrows I've ever shot. I've shot factory arrows, built my own and bought other's custom arrows, and without a doubt these are the closest matched 12 arrows I've ever held. I weighed every one of them and they wer...

Re: Wierd Boltcutter performance

I think a LOT of guys don't understand the reason high lung shots yield slow to start blood trails and immediately blame the BH. As already mentioned, shooting a little lower is the solution IF you care about that initial blood trail and ease of tracking, but just knowing that high hits often come w...

I have the Caldwell one and it works perfectly. It also allows you to use with your smart phone and record your groups etc.. Fantastic device.

Re: Wind and accuracy

I've found that the heavier arrows like 2219's that require less weight up front for FOC shoot the best in cross winds. I think that the lighter arrows with most of their weight forward get their tails blown like a wind vane much more so than the heavy 20" 2219's with 100 grn heads. Just my obs...

Re: Wierd Boltcutter performance

i doubt it was your tip. You gotta hit them low if you want them to leak. When deer are hit in the lungs the only blood they project at first is aspirated(blown from nose as they breathe) in the form of really tiny droplets in the form of a fine mist. The distance between these spatter patterns on ...

Re: is there a quality 150-200$ xbow red dot out there?

I have a Burris Speed dot which is great. I also have some of the Horton 3 dot sights on setups for the kids and they have been great as well. I don't know about the Excal/Truglo quality as I 've never owned one, hence the question. I know that the Excal brand(regardless of maker)would be covered un...

Re: is there a quality 150-200$ xbow red dot out there?

Red Dot's have their Pro's and Con's over scopes: Pro's: Quick Target Acquisition, Wide FOV(plus keep both eyes open for even more FOV), Infinite Eye Relief, Switch between shooters without POI shift(including younsters), Visible reticle at dusk/night, and really lightweight. Con's: No Magnification...

Re: Bushnell Rangr Finders

I've also had 450 for at least 10 years(maybe longer). Bought when first came out, and have used it nonstop without any issues. It will range deer accurately to 200 yards pretty easily on the first attempt but it gets tricky holding steady at longer distances unless you have something to lean agains...

Re: BEST MECHANICAL BROADHEADS

I used the older model 100 grain Rocket Steelhead. Not that I feel they are the best, or even better than any other head, but I have a truckload of them and they seem to fly good. I think a lot of broadhead magic is marketing to get us to keep buying new and "improved" broadheads in searc...

Re: Mecanical heads opening up upon firing

Had this problem with NAP Spitfires when shot out of Excal and Speed Vertical bows. Spitfires used a dimpled friction shim to keep blades closed instead of rubber band. The friction was pretty good on brand new blades and shims, but the problem was that once it was opened/closed a couple times the f...

Re: What Broadhead do you use

Still shooting the same dozen Rocket Steelhead 100's I've had for years. They go to the exact same place my field points go out to 60 yds and always pass through. I have one Steelhead that has been through 9 deer and a Turkey and is still as true as the day it was bought. I also like the Swhacker 10...

Buckmaster Maxpoint

For all you fans of Excalibur made compounds, there is a 175# Maxpoint for sale on Ebay right now. I've had several of these over the years and they will push 450grn arrows at 340fps all day long and shoot the same groups as my Excal recurves. The back ends are all Excalibur so everything is still a...
