Re: Where were you when the world stopped turning

I was in the middle of a fishing trip (campers & tents) in Northern Ontario, approximately 50 miles due south of Timmins in a very remote area (no cell service and very limited TV or radio). We had just came back from a successful morning of pickeral (walleye) fishing when one of the other people in...

Re: Drawing without an Aid

most people when they hand cock a crossbow will not have the string even as one arm is stronger then the other . Hence shot going way to the right or left doesn't take much of the string being off to screw up the shot . If a person hand cocks the bow with the proper technique, the string will be co...

Re: Hunting platform

Don, just saw a post on FB, your platform is not a hunting blind. It’s a “ He-Shed”! Thought that a funny! Paul, does that mean that don has a "new doghouse". I know the platform looked like it could hold a sofa bed, with a little solar power he could hook up a coffee maker with a timer to wake him...

Re: Drawing without an Aid

Can anyone cock the (Equinox) by hand. Dave  I have hand cocked the highest poundage long limb excalibur crossbows. I wouldn't want to do a lot of practice with one hand cocking, but for hunting purposes, I could handle it. I have hand cocked a 355, but it was "not fun" and a struggl...

Re: Drawing without an Aid

I can cock my friend's exomax by hand without a rope All the early crossbows were hand cocked. I can't remember which models started with the grove for rope cocking. Hand cocking is more about technique and not so much about strength. My dad hand cocked his exomag well into his 70's and it took us ...

Re: Good news......and bad news

Here is another take on the health care difference between Canada and the US. A while ago someone I knew in the US (from another forum, trail camera) told a little story about a man he wanted to hire to work for his small company. He owned a small company and employed 30-45 people (depending on the ...

Re: “Thoughts on Sunday Hunting”

To me Sunday is a day for rest. But, as was stated above, many people have to work 5 to 6 days so I agree that Sunday would be OK to enable people to get there meat. In areas where they are hunting close to residential, there should be restrictions on the use of guns so people not hunting can rest w...

Re: Hunting platform

Looks great Don, I think the only other thing I might do is to add another crossmember to form an x on each side but use cable with turnbuckles to adjust for changing ground conditions in the future. Don I like the above suggestion. I believe that if you use 3/4 plywood, the size (on a tr...

Re: Arrow fish tailing

I was gonna just let this die, but I can't........... Of your 6 factors, 5 or them can and should be controlled by the arrow builder. The 6th - WIND, can and should be controlled during sight in. Whether you do that in doors, or on a calm day. This is the only 1 that "cannot" be controlled in the f...

Re: Arrow fish tailing

We can just agree to disagree. IMO if your arrow noticeably fishtails or spirals you have arrow issues to fix. Especially if it's with a field point or mech head. I agree that if your arrow is fishtailling or spiralling that there is a problem. BUT WHAT I SAID WAS THAT THERE ARE WAY TO MANY VARIABL...

Re: Arrow fish tailing

You state above "remember the tip of your arrow is 14-18" off the rail in free air", how long of arrows are you shooting? Mine is half of the less number in free air. I used the 14-18" as a ball park as arrow sizes vari. I did check my bow ( Relayer) and my dad's (exomag) and the distance from the ...
