I salted my tail last year. Salted heavily with the fan spread out and pins holding the feathers back. We have done this with grouse tails and they do not breaksdown so it should be find. I then headed over to Micheals craft store to get a nice looking piece of wood to mount and another to cover the...

Rain, snow, wind, deer but no turkeys. I was not able to stay out long, even my 12" boots were not high enough for the water hole on the walk in. Not a very nice day to hunt them but hey I had to be out there. Back to the old place tomorrow with hopes for something better.

Would you be willing to make a few arrows for someone who gets you some wings? I was actually thinking of making arrows for my 40lb longbow but do not have the tools. I guess I will have to get a bird first, let me know if you would be willing to make some arrows and what they may cost.

The ratio depends on what type of syrup you are creating. I think the 40:1 rule is for amber syrup but if you like it lighter than it will be lower. We used to make maple candy, Dad stopped that after 1 year, said we bounced off the walls too much.

That looks very good. I have done a few deer racks and one moose for friends. I have always used rabbit fur as that is more forgiving, I also would not cut off the antlers first, mind you I am not 100% sure how the professionals do it.

I just read the regs and it says bow and arrow.

http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/mnr/pubs/fishi ... fr2006.pdf
(page 7)
Unless I am missing something a bow and arrow can be a crossbow and arrow.

If I am wrong please fill me in as to where the regs state anything else.

I have heard of it done and it is suppose to tase good. The problem is with the small trees and the ratio of sap to syrup. Where Maple is 40:1, 40 litres of sap to 1 litre of syrup birch syrup is 80:1, that is what I have heard.

Why not try it out, could not hurt.

I do not have a good enough backstop yet either, so I cannot even shoot it even if I was home, I have to pick something up quick or I am going to go insane. One week and 2 bows to wait on, I don't know if I can take it, only 10 days until turkey as well, ahhhhhhhhhh.

Got my exomax

Thanks for the advice earlier this month. I ended up picking up an Exomax with the accessory pack and varizone scope. I have to head back to Ottawa for a week but will get it sighted in a week or so. I shot one of them at Shooters to get a feel and wow. They are so light compared to the older models...

What would it take for a northerner like myself to come down and hunt some feral pigs in the southern states someday? What are the regulations like for non-residents?

With a wider chest on a bigger deer the prints will be further apart and slightly turned out compared to a lighter deer where the tracks almost seem to follow two parallel lines. I don't think there is any way to tell a buck from a doe only weight. In Eastern Ontario where we hunt with the rifles th...
