Re: Crossbow Success?

Thanks for the replies. Regarding Koropeski, I do not believe he was a crossbow hater. In my two meetings with him, I came to the belief that the Parks department is simply intimidated by "Mayor Miller's political staff". I appreciate the comments of good luck in this struggle to restore c...

Crossbow Success?

The email campaign to restore crossbow use at the Toronto public archery range may be having some success. The Director or Parks, Andy Koropeski, who refused to issue any crossbow permits to any person "no matter how qualified, how senior or how disabled" is now the former Director of Park...

Re: Help Restore Crossbow Use.

There a few problems with Andy's standard reply. At least there has been some change in his position about crossbows. First, he now states that crossbows are a type of bow and arrow- this is different from the previous Park's position that crossbows were not bows and arrows. Second, he continues to ...

Re: Help Restore Crossbow Use.

Hi ecoaster: I think you are entirely correct- Ford's response looks a generic one and is probably the same for every issue. Having said that, he is the current front runner and I request that anyone who receives a "generic" response to a crossbow email, write again requesting a specific r...

Re: O/T Gun registry here to stay

Blackjack is right about future restrictions. First the handguns, then the rifles (registry) then the crossbows. From my Freedom of Information request it was disclosed that "people may be intimidated because crossbows look like rifles". Please read my post "Help Restore Crossbow Use&...

Re: Help Restore Crossbow Use.

The bylaw, which was modified by mistake, states that crossbow use requires a permit. Andy has CHOSEN NOT to issue any permits, no matter how qualified, how senior or how disabled the applicant. He has the authority to issue permits but refuses to do so. I continue to believe that if the new politic...

Re: Help Restore Crossbow Use.

Thanks to Comfy Bear for the email to Rob Ford. The polls do suggest Ford will win. I believe that emails to all candidates will raise the crossbow matter but Ford and Smitherman are the front runners. The Director of Parks, Andy Koropeski has told me that I am the only person interested in crossbow...

Re: Help Restore Crossbow Use.

Thanks Dereck for emailing Koropeski, the Parks Director. Thats one email sent, another 199 or so to go. I know we can turn this around with enough persons emailing, writing, or calling the candidates or the Parks Director to restore crossbow use at the public archery range.

Help Restore Crossbow Use.

The help of all archers is required to restore crossbow use at the public archery range in Toronto. Briefly, the City of Toronto has a public archery range in ET Seton Park (behind the Ontario Science Centre). For more than 25+ years all types of bows including crossbows were allowed to be used. Thr...

Daco Trigger

Thanks Cossack: Good advice on the digital camera. I finally got one and am quite impressed with it. I will probably not attempt to polish the Daco trigger. It works fine as is- I just thought it would be better if lightened. There are triggers available from scrapped bows, so it would not be a lost...

Daco Trigger

I have received some suggestions but no real leads. Is there anyone out there who has taken a Daco trigger apart? I assume that if I take it apart and polish the mechanism, like you would for a rifle, I can lighten the trigger weight. There seems to be three hollow pins holding the internal parts to...

Daco Hornet trigger help needed

As a winter project, I am refurbishing my old Daco Hornet 120# and need advice with the trigger. I have dismantled the bow for camo painting, added the scope mount and quiver but the trigger remains a mystery. I have attempted to find an early Excalibur replacement trigger at reasonable cost but no ...

Toronto Crossbow Alert

More help is needed to turn this Toronto Parks crossbow ban around. I have met with my local city councillor and have requested a meeting with the councillor who chairs the Parks and Environment Committee. The staff head of Toronto Parks has now been requested to prepare "briefing notes" o...

Today is the Ontario provincial election and all the Toronto councillors are out campaigning for their provincial parties. I am arranging meetings with my councillor and the chair of the city's Parks and Environment Committee to try and get this crossbow ban turned around. I need at least 200 emails...

Toronto Crossbow Alert

Boo is correct when he refers to the Olympic bow shooters, they were the persons who protested most strongly about the possible closing of the entire public archery range at Sunnybrook Park. The term "traditional" archers is one I picked up from my discussions with City staff were they att...
