New, Old?

Thank you guys, i knew i could count on you! , Peter P is correct, i was looking for clarification on comparison with new models that of course have moulded limbs. Thank you Digger for the specs, i have the same VIXEN you posted on your reply, that is what my son and i both shot at a 3D down ...

New, Old?

Hi everybody, i am curious about my XBows and i know quite a few people here have the answers to my questions. I have a carved limbs, black and grey camo VIXEN, bought it new quite a few years ago, i also have an EXOMAG, realtree camo, carved limbs bought some years ago as well, both still in great ...

uncocking xBow

WOW, that was close, glad you made off sort of ok; need new boots too i bet. We've talked about this before at nausea, however i would really like to remind everyone that doesn't already do so ( First option should be discharge into DEER VITALS ) to carry a spare field tipped bolt and discharge into...

Wish list

Done that a few times, defeats the saying that if you put ime in the bush you get your deer; i have taken quite a few over time, no trophies, but then again i want meat not trophies. Depends where you hunt and their moving patterns, i hear of a guy in my area that claims to know what cycle the deer ...

hanging deer

I hang mine from front legs, soon as i skin it i wipe it down with rags and large amounts of water ( i know, different opinions on that but i do it as soon as i get it in the garage, about an hour after shooting), cut the head off first off, that way when i start cutting the meat off the carcass i h...

Cooking

I have to admit, it alll sounds very inventive and somewhat original, also bear in mind i have spent most of my working life in the food service industry& cooking. I have the outmost success with my ( boneless) venison that i butcher myself by ensuring the right cuts are used and cut to proper s...

tree stands

I have hunted out of three different climbers, one of them the SUMMIT VIPER which i still use and i can't see myself getting a different one; easy to use, comfortable, safe and versatile. My son and i both have one; for those concerned with less bulk to pack i might recommend the SUMMIT BULLETT BACK...

WASP BOSS

Sumner, you may have something there, both about the 2nd 3rd .....shot etc, but with blades just installed? However i am not going to argue about it, all i want are straight flying bolts with broadheads on. The reason i went 4 blades Wasp was because of the similarity to SLICKTRICKS which weren't av...

WASP BOSS

Did some more shooting with the old VIXEN, 2 of three bolts were flying the same, the other way off, i ended up twiking DZ scope to match the two good ones and retired the third one temporarily ( Only need one good shot per deer right? ). Also shot WB out of EXOMAG, 2219's, not bad ranging in just a...

WASP BOSS

Bought some WASP BOSS 4 BLADES, 100 GR, shop was out of SLICTRICK; tried to fine tune my VIXEN with new 2216 Allum, 18 " They are flying all over between 6" & 10 " apart, took me 10-15 shots to have a decent shot at 20 YDS. I used to shoot 3 BLADE wasp, no problem; my target point...

burning smell

I noticed that smell with both my xbows, VIXEN an EXOMAG, always thought it was the string itself, yes it is more noticeable after a good waxing; somehow i thought the string fibres snapped with vibrations from the shot, hence producing a crack not unlike one coming from a whip's end with a sparkle ...
