Deer Bacon/Deer Spam
I can't take credit for the idea, but I've certainly taken advantage of it this past season. While browsing the Internet my son came across a video where hunters were making what they called deer bacon. Basically, they took their favorite deer sausage recipe and made it into square blocks about the ...

Re: New TOTA 3 blade broadhead
Are these stainless? Just curious as carbon steel is much easier to sharpen. ( and I have diamond and ceramic flat stones😁) They are carbon steel, not stainless. With the right gear, you can get these crazy sharp. The 3-blade is real easy to sharpen. Just lay each side on a flat stone and slide it ...

Re: New TOTA 3 blade broadhead
The performance of the 4-blade has been superb for me. The 3-blade may be a little more forgiving for folks that don't have a great arrow setup. It should get better penetration as well. It could be an awesome choice for lighter arrows or slower bows. I like the ability resharpen on any flat stone. ...

Re: OT \ Battery chainsaws
I've been sucked into the Dewalt 20v line of tools and have the 12" chainsaw and the 8" pole saw. I've been quite impressed with the 12" chainsaw. With a pair of 6ah batteries, I can cut wood until I'm tired of it. Most of the time I'm using a chainsaw, this one with a smaller bar wil...

Re: Blood trails
a bit surprised you did not get a pass through with that 1 inch head It was the only unlucky part of the shot. It was a dead center heart shot at 37 yards quartering away but the arrow hung up on the femur of the opposite leg. It was just under the skin. I broke the skin with my knife and pulled it...

Blood trails
It goes without saying that larger cuts tend to produce better blood trails. But there really is a lot more to it than that. In my opinion, shot placement and sharp blades is what makes a good blood trail more so than the broadhead being used. Even a monster cut broadhead will produce a skimpy blood...

Re: Foxy
That's a unique looking squirrel. There's a area in Maryland about 30 miles north of me that has an abnormal number of entirely black fox squirrels. All we ever see around here are the typical gray and fox squirrel colors.

So I'm not the only one that's ready to flush 2024 down the toilet. I owned a nice little white Mustang to make my commute more enjoyable until Mother Nature decided to deposit a neighbor's pine tree on top of it in early January. >$14K in damages so the Insurance Co decided to total it. https://one...

Re: What the heck is wrong with people today?
Some people have a general lack of respect for others and feel the world revolves around them. I think being sentenced to pick up 10 tons of trash from private property and disposing of it properly on their own dime would be a valid punishment. I like this farmers approach: https://youtu.be/kBrg2gNF...

Re: Tactacam 6.0
Wow, it's hard to believe that there wasn't demand. I guess there weren't enough margins to make a profit. This sucks for us owners, because the batteries won't last forever as they are proprietary in size/shape. Fifteen years from now folks will be wondering what the name was of those video recordi...

The stringing aid looks used, but it doesn't look like it was ever used on this bow.
Most of the time when they're that bad they just unstring them.

Re: Anyone have some deer season left?
Where I hunt in Northern Virginia, the season is open 2/3 of the year. It's only closed May-August. The buck season ended the first weekend in January but we can keep doe hunting until the end of March with firearms (or archery if you choose). Then a late archery season comes back in to allow more d...

Re: morning vs. evening
I've been tracking key details of my harvests for years now, so I pulled up the data. Like you, the overall numbers are similar. Overall I'm at 54% in the evening and 46% in the mornings. What about just decent bucks, 6 points or larger? I've bagged 39 of those in total. That's 51% (20) mornings and...

Congrats on a very nice and unique buck. It's nice to have enough confidence in your gear to make that shot. Great job!
