Re: Test 123
It's alive! The forum that is. This doe my daughter shot with her Micro 335 this morning at 13 yards with a Truglo Titanium-X, not so much.

Cabelas & Bass Pro
I bought my first Excalibur at a Bass Pro in 2006. They certainly still stock Excalibur crossbows. But did anyone else notice that there aren't any Excalibur crossbows in the fall Bass Pro/Cabelas hunting catalog or even the Archery catalog either. A lot of other brands are in there, but nothing fro...

Re: BIGGEST FAUX PAU On opening day
#1: A few years ago I left my phone in the truck and didn't notice until I was halfway into the 300ft elevation climb up to our stands. I decended to retrieve my phone as my daughter continued to her stand. Once I was finally in my stand, I cocked my Micro then reached back for an arrow only to real...

Re: scent control
Depending on where I sit, its a 300 to 400ft climb up a mountain from my parking spot to the tree I'll be climbing up in. I'm just happy if I don't entirely melt before I reach the tree. Depending on the speed of the climb, how I'm dressed and the outside temp all factor into the amount of sweat pro...

Deer skin condition?
Yesterday I had a bachelor group stroll past one of my cameras. It's looking like I'll have plenty of antlers to chase this season. One of the bucks appears to have some sort of color anomaly. I've never seen one with it, but I've read that is it possible for a deer to have mange. There are also som...

Ready to go deer huntin'?
Sometimes you don't have to go far to find deer.

Re: Permit season, any luck?
Mule deer and Pronghorn up in the Panhandle. Sambar and Axis near Corpus Christi. Nilgai down in the southern tip near Brownsville. And Aoudad, Fallow and Axis in the Texas hill country. I know Louisiana advertises itself as a Sportsman's Paradise and the waterfowl rich bottomlands in East Central ...

Permit season, any luck?
This is the time of year that calendars are scanned and vacation days are locked in for the upcoming hunting season. Anyone else having any luck in your permit draws? I just found out I was successful in both of my draws for permit hunts back in Arkansas. :eusa-dance: In both cases it is a bit bitte...

It's still in the distance, but it'll be here before we know it. Today was my 4th trip to the woods in a week to finally get the trail cameras all sorted out. While I was at work this morning, this thing came through the property. https://onedrive.live.com/embed?resid=DE60831E6602D779%2186293&au...

Re: Iowa banned trail cameras on public land.
I don't see this as a big loss. Most every state I hunt doesn't allow feeding or baiting on public land either. On some public lands, if you leave any personal equipment overnight there is a good chance it won't be there come daylight. You can get some of that on private lands too, but not as bad as...

Cease fire wouldn't fire - the solution
This week I broke out both of my crossbows just to knock off the dust and test a new chronograph. My Matrix 350 shooting a 402gr arrow had a 12 shot average of 337.1fps with a Standard Deviation of 0.8fps. It can consistently hit a dime at 20 yards. My last shot was broadhead (boltcutter) into a 3&q...

Re: Tactacam 6.0 micro sd card
Mt tactacams have been finicky with cards before. Buy a name brand that has the class 10 logo and you'll be good to go. ^^^-- That It's hard to go wrong with Sandisk, but there are others that will work. The key is to get one with enough bandwidth (Class 10) to record 4K. I've found mine to be fini...

Tooth of the Arrow Turkey & Small Game Head
Anyone have any thoughts on the new Turkey & Small Game broadhead that Tooth of the Arrow released this week? My thoughts: 1. Too expensive for my tastes. 2. It will certainly kill small game, but will it stop. I have my doubts. I use cheap rubber blunts that are about 3/4" in diameter and ...
