The bird I harvested on May 4th came from 300 yards away. He flew down and ran all the way across corn stubble to my location. He was not the bird I was expecting as he was not the bird I had set up on. I had roosted a bird the night before and set up on him, but he wasn't the one that ended up in m...

I would hazard to guess that only two per cent of the hunting community practices with their chosen 'tools' once a week. I've found that the only way I can stay confident in my chosen deer harvesting tool (compound) is to pull it out once a week for a practice session. The same goes for my rifles an...

I wouldn't be without mine. Some people say it just adds to the time spent packaging, but, I know that the meat stays more 'fresh' when it has been sealed properly.

I'd report that incident with a date, time, location and as much description of the vehicle as you can provide. You never know what pieces of information can eventually lead to an arrest/charge.

If you're in Toronto, the Simcoe County Forests are an option. They're about an hour drive to get to. You need to be a member of the OFAH to hunt there. They do get quite busy on the weekend, especially around turkey season. If it's your first crack, maybe a guide service is an option? You can check...

Calling back and forth can make a gobbler hand up in itself. In nature, the hen goes to the tom. As long as she's calling he may think she's coming to him. Sometimes it works to just shut up and wait the tom out, calling only enough to peak his interest. Sounds like a good time. Something tells me ...

Memories of January 3rd, 2009 - 3D Shoot in Oxford County

I finally got around to organizing some of my videos and came across the footage I filmed at the 3D shoot on January 3rd, 2009, in Oxford County. Long range, over a pond, at a broadside bear target. The ice on the pond broke through when a few of our larger boys walked across it  : http://www....

Tom Down!

The hunt really started on Friday night. It was supposed to start Friday afternoon, but someone (*cough*wife*cough*) had different ideas, something about getting their hair done. So, the family and I arrived at my in-law's place, just outside of Exeter, at around 6:00 p.m. There was no time for an e...

Re: What if you don't have hardwoods to hunt?

Hey all..... I don't have very many areas that offer hardwoods to hunt for Turkey....there are alot of county forests in my area that offer an abundance of red pines. Are these suitable habitat for turkeys or would you just stay away from those areas? You are in Simcoe County....you are in turkey h...

Eight deer walked by where I was sitting...none like the ones you saw, though! 8) Gotta love those days when you're turkey hunting and see nothing but deer and when you're deer hunting and see nothing but turkeys. :?
