Re: Cuddeback, Bushnell, Moultrie camera test

Be careful buying on Ebay from an unknown source. At one time Cuddeback would not honor a camera warranty unless the camera was purchased from an authorized dealer. Not sure if this policy has changed or not. To me it would be worth paying the few extra dollars to purchase from a reputable and autho...

Re: Info on Ladder Stands

I used to build/weld my own ladder stands but it takes quite a while to hand cut, fit, weld, clean, prime, paint, add hardware, etc. The low cost of a new factory made stand is actually a pretty good bargain. I found a Gorilla brand 16' ladder stand on sale for $89 last year and was actually surpris...

Re: CELLPHONE FOR HUNTERS

Some of the Motorola cell phones are built to and do meet military specs and are supposed to be reasonably waterproof, dust proof, shockproof, etc. I have one of the original model Motorola I-305 military spec Nextel phones that is about 6 years old. It has been wet, dropped on concrete and pavement...

Re: Tree Steps vs Climbing Sticks

The screw in steps (such as those made by Ameristep) are good because they can be spaced exactly as you need and want them, even if the tree is bent or leaning. They are very sturdy and secure, silent to climb, have a knurled surface, and the end of the step is bent upward to help prevent slippage. ...

Re: coons

Coons are very destructive little critters. They eat and destroy many turkey and other game bird nests, kill and eat the baby birds if found, as well as homestead many of the preferred food sources and game feeders. They do get very protective and aggressive at prime food source sites and can/will r...

Ever had/made venison cubed steaks? We love'em grilled or fried. Debone the hams, slice/cut steaks about 1/2"-3/4" thick, run them thru a cubed steak machine twice (once east-west, once north-south), then package in meal size portions. They are quick and easy to cook and tastes great. Dave

Something about deer hunting season that brings out the worst in some people. One of the places I hunt is a good 600 acre tract. The guys next door have 3000 acres to hunt, but have brought a ladder stand to the property line fence, and faced the stand into our side. I just don't understand why peop...

Such sad news. How could anyone be so stupid and irresponsible?

I shoot a 14" TC Contender 7x30 Waters and it is a great deer hunting handgun. I have taken several nice bucks out to 130 yards and wouldn't hesitate to shoot at 150 or more with a good rest from a tree stand. The Contenders and Encores are single shot break down style guns and are available in...

Coyotes hunt in tandem. One coyote runs the deer, the other coyote tries to cut it off and catch it. They keep this up until the deer is exhausted, then they take it down easily. Have seen this scenario several times. Coyote populations are exploding all over and the impact on deer numbers is signif...

The very first day that I deer hunted with a bow (about 1975), I put out some Buck Stop brand doe in heat lure. Right after daylight a buck came directly to the tree I sprayed with the lure. I drew, aimed, shot, the buck jumped, took off, and there was my arrow sticking in the ground. I thought I ha...

Down here in Florida we are over run with coyotes. They are everywhere in the woods, inside the city limits, in suburban areas, etc. Coyotes have taken pets from the back yards and I have read on the net where they have snatched some pets from the arms of the owners. We have seen a significant reduc...

Nice bucks! Either would be good ones to take.

The big six point does not appear to have the best antler developing genetics and may be a good one to take out of the gene pool.

Good luck.
