For a single aim point such as a single red dot, wouldn't it be better to sight in at what you think would be your mid range?

A few ideas: If possible, carry the stand in a day or two before your hunt. Minimize size and weight of all gear that has to be carried in/out daily. Try a different style of day pack or switch to a comfortable waist band type fanny pack Put some comfortable cushy padded pads on stand backstraps, st...

It is my experience and opinion that there are too many variables that can and do happen with a bow shot at deer at longer distances. The most common problem is the deer hears the bow shot and arrow launch, flinches and moves at the sudden unnatural noise, and the arrow strikes the deer in some part...

I have seen one buck survive an arrow hit thru the outer portion of the liver. An hour or so after dark one Saturday evening, I was called to bring my dog to trail up an arrow shot buck. The shot had been made two hours earlier. The dog picked up the trail immediately and eventually trailed the buck...

I enjoy both morning and evening hunts and consider both to be equally productive. I will sometimes have/use different stands for each, but will sometimes hunt the same stand in the am and pm if that area is very active and the conditions are right. The issue is putting yourself where the deer "...

It has been miserably hot here, mid 90's. Weather guy was predicting record high temps this week. Hard to get in the mood to hunt with such hot and humid weather. Not much fun to sit in your tree stand with clothes soaked and sweat dripping off your face. I envy you guys/gals that live further north...

Bow limb technology has changed a lot over the years. Limbs are more durable and efficient now than ever before. It would be good if the technology could again be improved to provide more response, more arrow speed, etc. with less noise and vibration. How about a better and more ergonomically improv...

What Will Be New on the 2010 Excal Hunting XB's?
Is it too early to learn what will be coming out on the new 2010 Excalibur hunting crossbows? Will there be any changes? When will they be out?
Thanks, Dave

This is very good information for all to read and remember. When a shot is taken, it is very tempting to jump down right quick and go look for your arrrow and the animal, but that is the worst thing you could do. Every year we read of bow hunters who work hard all year getting their gear and stands ...

After a hit and if the animal cannot be found, keep a daily watch on the area in the morning and watch for buzards. If the animal did die, they will eventually find him. The morning when they come off the roost is the best time to watch. They will go to wherever they smell a dead animal. After a bow...
