Re: Ideal shot distance?
Beware that shooting at a stationary target at a known distance in your back yard is much different than shooting at a live animal in the woods. It doesn't matter how far you can hit a bow target. The problem is the animal can and does move. If the animal doesn't move during your shot process, trigg...

Re: Shooting Distance
The issue of taking long shots with a bow is not if you can shoot well and hit a target at the distance, the issue is that the animal can move before the arrow travels the distance and impacts the target. The results are the arrow does not hit the animal where you aimed and usually are high rearward...

Re: Can anyone clear up these pics?
This is the one you want to focus on. Look behind and to the right of the front buck and look what is standing back there.

Re: Help Recommendations needed for a Mechanical Broadhead
With increased height your shot angle becomes somewhat problematic as the target heart/lung area becomes smaller. When shooting at sharp downward angles, it is possible to hit only one lung which means the deer can go a long way after the shot. Trailing deer thru deep water is frequently a futile ev...

Re: Big Buck (now with pics!)
Congratulations! Great buck, hunt, and follow up with a perfect ending. I don't think it gets any better than that.

What To Do After A Fall
I have seen alot of advice, encouragement, and instruction regarding the use a safety harness and safety line when hunting from an elevated stand, but I haven't ever seen any information as to what to do if a fall occurs and you are now hanging on the side of the tree. If you did fall from a hunting...

Re: Fox News
My wife is convinced Obummo is the anti-Christ. There is much debate about his background, but the fact is no one has ever been able to trace his background in the US which supports the idea he is not a legal US citizen and should not have been allowed to run or get elected in the first palce. He ha...

Re: your deer feeder idea's
Be careful with your feeder design. Anything used to hold or distribute corn that can get wet will cause the exposed corn to sour and it will turn into a soggy sour stinking mess and will contaminate it all. Yes, coons (and squirrels, turkeys, wild hogs, bears, donkeys, cows, etc.) are a real proble...

Re: Old eyes and cross hairs
I can relate to old eyes. Hope your situation can/will be improved. I have a Ultradot brand red dot type scope/sight on a Contender 7x30 handgun and like it. Just put the dot on your target and touch the trigger. The red dot can be adjusted for briteness and is easy to see even in very dim light. Of...

Re: your deer feeder idea's
A hanging programable auto feeder with varmint guard works well for deer and keeps the coons from getting at the corn.

Re: I'm ALMOST out of venison!
Just curious, how do you process and cut up your deer? Do you age the meat before cutting up and freezing or cut/slice the steaks when the meat is still fresh? Down here (Central Florida) I try to age my venison for about three weeks. We had access to a walk in cooler for years that maintained 38-40...

Cool photos!
That one moose appears to be in very poor condition. Hopefully he/she will survive.

Re: Next problem
Boo A friend of mine has one of those DR brand field and brush cutters like is advertised on TV. That machine does a good job on thick brush, small saplings, etc. Don't know how much of a job you have but paying someone with a tractor and bush hog may be the best and quickest solution for clearing t...

Re: Deer Hearing
Deer have an amazing ability to hear and detect non-natural sounds. They can pinpoint the source and location of the sound and react all in a millisecond.
