Re: Ohio Taxidermist?
This taxidermist is in Carroll. I've used him twice. He takes a long time but does excellent work. The information is below. There are some bad reviews on him but I've experienced nothing but good service from him. I would have written a review but need a facebook account which I don't have. I would...

Re: Arrow Pullers
I have Dan Miller's arrow puller and it's great if your arrow goes into the target all the way to the fletching. You can grab the end of the arrow and pull it out. For compactness, I like the Double D arrow puller. It works just as well as Dan's but if your arrow gets buried all the way to the fletc...

Re: Is an STS really worth getting?
I'm not saying it's ever happened to me  but it's excellent insurance if you ever dry fire your bow. Just saying... If you do get the STS, cut about 1/4" off of the rods and allow a gap of 1/8 to 1/4" from the string. If you don't do this, you could wear out the bumpers after ...

Re: fletching??
I use the Bitzenberger for regular arrow shafts. When you fletch crossbow arrows you need to use the crossbow adapter. The adapter has a rubber ring inside that is supposed to grip the end of the shaft so it can be rotated to the next indexing point for the next feather or vane. In theory that’s a g...

Re: Metal detector
I used one when I was shooting aluminum shafts. It was great. Carbon shafts are another matter. The field point and insert are not much in the way of metal for the device to detect. I was shooting in the cold yesterday and lost two carbon shafts. I will have to wait till spring and go looking for th...

Re: Don't think this will help our sport
I don't think this will be very practical at all. It is because of the proximity of the elevation wheel to the grooves for the string cocker at the rear of the stock. I don't think there is any way a person could use a rope cocking aid with this sighting device installed.

Re: Bingo!
Now for the good news; I just found out we can take three antlered deer in Ohio this year! So, I’ll get a second chance at the other buck. I would love to know how you found out about additional bucks. This is from the official regulations for the 2009-1010 hunting season. A hunter can take only on...

Bingo!
I’ve been hunting the same spot since last Saturday. Until Tuesday I was ready to give up and back to hunting my favorite spot on public land. I got up last Tuesday at 4am and drove an hour only to find a couple of pickup trucks parked where I go. So it looked like it was too crowded. I went back to...

I agree with FredBear. According to Excalibur’s ballistics for a 300 FPS arrow the drop is 29.75 inches: http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/demo/m/content/article.php?content_id=244 I can't recall what ballistics program I got it from but the time of flight at that distance is 1/2 second. It is concei...

Crossbows in The Olympics?
Will we see crossbow competition in future olympics, or will they be prohibited as in previous years? BTW, does anyone else beside me think that this is more than coincidental that President Obama lost this bid for his adopted home town in light of the remark he once made about the Special Olympics ...

I had a very bad experience with a Horton Crossbow a long time ago. I can't remember the model name but it was supposed to be their top-of-line model. I was sitting under a tree hunting one morning when I heard a loud crack on my lap. The wood stock just split on me at the wrist. I sent it to them a...
