Don't get me wrong, I'd kill a yote every time, but I found the whole video a little disturbing. Every living thing at least deserves some respect... with the possible exception of oppossums ;) Yes, finishing the yote off was right, but making a game or a joke out of killing a terrified animal is ju...

I'm a little new to this as well, but I've seen posts here where x-bows have been left cocked for a few days without dmage. I'm not recommending it, but leaving it cocked in your stand is no problem.

I would NOT sling it over my back cocked. You're just asking for an accident.

First, I've had a few good things from Sportsman'a Guide, but I've also had them misrepresent enough things to make me stop buying from them. As far as the meat temps go, I took a doe in an early Sept. hunt. I processed her the same day due to warm temps. I have a grinder that I purchased from Meije...

Good post.
Carrying a knife is just a good idea anyway. For me, a sharp knife is just part of my daily life. I haven't been a day without one in over 35 years.
I think that it's a shame that we now live in a world where kids can't even carry a pocket knife to school anymore.

A 5 yard shot isn't such a deal... holding your spot while he's at 5 yards would be the real test. THAT takes some stones.

There will alway be deer, but before you know it, you'll be looking at a grown son and wondering where all those years went, and your lap will be empty.
Kids are like an investment; your steady attention will produce dividends that you can only dream of.

Well, by now you must be seeing a theme. lot's of good advice here. Congratulations on cutting up your own deer! I took my first deer to a butcher. Never again. They make their money by doing it as fast as they can. There are many good books and DVDs on the subject, but I learned on my own. I lay an...

Sorry to point out the obvious, but the DNR is a government run agency. Need I say more? As far as where I live? I'll admit that I do complain about the snow and the cold. The griping seems to have gotten worse as I've gotten older, but maybe it's just that I need something to grouse about or I'm no...

A heavy winter

Ok, weather forecasting is like a crap shoot at times, so take this for what it's worth. We've had the same weather man here in west mi for 30 years. He's as good as they come. He says that the way everything is shaping up, he feels that this winter will be in line with the one that we had in '78. T...
