Re: what would cause a 405 to smoke a plastic nock?
I know my ruined arrow and cut string was a result of loose plastic nock that came off the arrow which was then loaded into the 380 bow unnoticed (black nock on a black arrow). After the scary experience I checked several things and eventually found two of the other new arrows with nocks loose enough...

Re: String Broke after firing 8 times
Thank you Boo for helping me post my picture of the plastic nock with ribs. It is a little fuzzy but the ribs show.

Re: String Broke after firing 8 times
On the part of the nock that inserts into the shaft there are tiny ribs running length-ways. The end results is there is not very much surface contact between the inserted nock and the inside if the shaft.

Re: String Broke after firing 8 times
My situation must be a little different. My son was getting ready to decock the bow and when he pulled the arrow out, I saw something fall out of the bow thinking the bow had lost some part from inside. I was surprised when I picked up the object from the ground to see that a nock had come out of th...

Re: String Broke after firing 8 times
Yes- they look like those pictured- I believe they are Black Eagles. They are at my son's house in Wyoming so I can not examine or photograph them right now.
Is there some history related to the plastic nocks that fall out after some use?

Re: String Broke after firing 8 times
I will share a similar experience with what I thought was a string break but turned out to be a strung "cut" on about my 10th shot of a new 380. There is a possibility it could be your situation also. Danny Miller thought I had not seated the arrow all the way back to the string before the...

Response To Request for More Info on Utah Cow Elk
I posted this added information on my Utah Elk hunt post but I think some may have missed it and with "a little bit of humor" in it, I thought it important to repost it. In response to request for more hunt info, let me say that my two years of successfully bagging an elk have been a direc...

Re: Utah Cow Elk Harvested
In response to request for more hunt info, let me say that my two years of successfully bagging an elk have been a direct result of this forum. After tearing a bicep tendon in both the right and left arm, I qualified for a handicap crossbow hunting permit in the state of Utah. My first internet sear...
