I could not get a group with the 3-blade 125gr Muzzy's on my Vortex with brand new CF Bolts. I have a few that are good with the 150gr Boltcutters. Next year or maybe later this season, post gun season I will try a Rage or other mechanical with a low flying profile. Four Brand New Easton CF Bolts w/...

I have a Doghouse blind and I like it but here's what I have found. If you are going to shoot thru the mesh, you should, as I read in a column recently, practice shooting thru it at a target. I won't shoot thru mine, but not because I would ruin the mesh, I just think it will affect your POI. I actu...

Next Full Moon is what Dec. 2nd? Penna Rifle Buck opens two days before and stays open for two weeks. Cool. In the part of the state where I hunt, you can also take a bear with a Bear License, of course, during buck season. Cooler. I watched a small 4 or 5 pt. chase a doe around yesterday for about ...

I'm in with TheOldarcher on this, if I may chime in. OldArcher, thanks for doing some research. My first reaction was good grief, what an Idiot. Next, I really wondered if it was a false flag. In other words, someone does this to deliberately raise the hunter-hatred bar and then point the finger and...

Yea the Morrells Six-shooter wasn't stopping the bolts from this Vortex. Broadheads sticking out the back are not easy to extract. Same deal with me on the target foam adhering to the shafts, mostly on the Field point shafts. Here's what I ended up with: From 30 yards http://i891.photobucket.com/alb...

Peter, Thanks for the reply. I did PM you. I finally got the Vortex to group with Field points...cool. I dunno man seems like the scope settled in for lack of a better explanation. But I passed my own test; 3 bolts in three different circles of the target 3 times in a row, no misses, once at 30yds a...

Thanks again for the reply. Have you contacted Excalibur? If so, what happened? Yea I gun hunt PA. My Ruger MKII in .30-06 will get it done. Seems to me, from what I have read The Block Crossbow Target is the only target that will stop one of these bolts from penetrating into the vanes so as not to ...

Wow. Well, that doesn't add to my confidence, but i'm glad you posted. I would be less concerned had you not owned a Vortex...hmm. I am on my way to get a new target this morning, instead of being in my blind which is where I should be...hunting. Those shots you described are close shots...wow. Mine...

Thanks longwinters, yea i'm being real meticulous with using the ropecocker and making sure the hooks are right against and all that. I think the next thing I have to do is get a new target. This Vortex buries the bolt at 35yds. and then the vanes get curled. The string is new, no strands broken. I ...
