Apex for hunting? Looking for Kids bow

I'm looking for a crossbow for my kids for next fall deer hunting. They will be 10 this coming April. I'm looking for suggestions and was thinking that the Apex might produce enough kill power? I can't find the specs on it but I'm guessing it's lighter and smaller than the Vixen II? I'm also wonderi...

Re: Irradic Shooting

I had a similar problem, although not as extreme. I was dead on at 20 yards but when extended to 30 yards my arrows were off more than what I thought was acceptable. I found out that each arrow was consitently off in the same direction/distance. I experimented with turning the cock feather and found...

My Firenocks are flat.

Re: What happened??

Thanks for all the input folks. I would agree that the most likely is that I didn't have the arrow resting against the string at the shot. I still haven't found it. The good news is that I shot again last night for over an hour and it dind't happen a second time.

What happened??

I was target shooting last night with my new GT Laser 2's with firenocks. On my 7th arrow the bow (exocet 200) sounded significantly different at the shot, made me think that I had dryfired. I also did not see or hear the arrow hit the target. So I'm looking things over trying to figure out what had...

Re: New trigger system

If your design is truly a major improvement over the stock trigger, and proveably so, here's my suggestion. If it doesn't cost you too much to do it, patent your trigger. Then either sell the patent or better yet, licence production to Excalibur (and maybe even to other manufacturers as well). I as...

Welcome neighbor. I'm in Paw Paw, about 30 minutes south and east from Fenville. You're smack dab in the lake effect zone, so invest in some snow moving equipment!

Re: Relayer The Quietest?

Thanks for the input guys! I made the switch from a Mathews DXT to my Exocet200 last fall and have really enjoyed the crossbow. It would be nice if it were as quiet as the compound, but I understand that just isn't available yet. If the wooden stock will reduce noise, then I'm for giving it a try. I...

Relayer The Quietest?

Reading through Boo's website (a while ago) he mentions that he thinks his Relayer is quieter than his other bows and if I remember right it was due to the wood stock. Any thoughts or opinions on this? I have an Exocet 200 and would consider changing bows to the Relayer if it is quieter.

Re: Excalibur Crossbow will release the new S5 String Stoppe

I've been waiting for these. It looks like their independent of each other (only one point of contact)? If so, I wonder if they will be prone to move, ie rotate outward around the point of contact?

Thanks for the responses. I'll clean it up with alcohol and then rub some silicone spray it.

String Wax Buildup On Rail

I have an Exocet 200 that I bought used last fall. It's a 2008 or 2009 model. When I got it the rail had residual wax build up in places. I wasn't sure if that is normal, and it shoots fine so I haven't removed it. Now I'm beginning to think I should as it looks dirty to me. Should I clean it off? I...

Re: Making Your Crossbow Rail Friction-Free

What do you guys use to clean the rail that won't damage the string? I've got some buildup from the string wax that I would like to remove.

Re: Carbon or Aluminum Arrows?

I think I'll stick with carbon. The bow came with 6 firebolt C2's. Do these have any weight forward technology in them? If not, should I add inserts up front?

Carbon or Aluminum Arrows?

I'm new to crossbows - picked up an Exocet 200 for this falls bowhunting. I need to get some arrows and while researching on the forum was surprised to see a lot of posters using aluminum. I made the switch to carbons many years ago with my compound bows. Are there advantages shooting aluminum arrow...
