Re: OT / School me on Air Rifles
I bought a game 1400 black cat. 177. Love love love it. Stock scope is throw-away. Broke in 5 shots. Bought a 3-9 Tasso air rifle scope from Amazon. Rifle has a trigger pull adjust screw. Found a YouTube mod upgrade. Recommended purchasing a slightly longer set screw to get more adjustment. Has a pr...

Re: OT (bug out bag)
[/quote] That's the best line in this thread. Not to mention most of us are over weight and or addicted to some vice that would ultimately leave us sitting on a curb one mile from your house, winded and trying not to pass outfrom carrying your bug out bag. Telling yourself it didn't feel this heavy ...

Re: Moose hunting in Ontario
Welcome! Many members on this forum are regular Ontario moose hunters with great advise to offer. First off, the desirable tag to have is bull, they call well like elk or turkeys. Most locals focus on waterways when the task is filling a cow tag. I would spend most of my time in a canoe. Preferably ...

Re: How Dare You!
Come senators, congressmen Please heed the call Don't stand in the doorway Don't block up the hall For he that gets hurt Will be he who has stalled The battle outside ragin' Will soon shake your windows And rattle your walls For the times they are a-changin' Come mothers and fathers Throughout the l...

Re: Cooking your turkey
Like A lot of wild game, the finished product will benefit from an added fat source (read bacon). I butterfly the breasts, stuff them and wrap them in prosciutto (scallopini style). For stuffing I use some cubed pancetta bacon, peppers, fennel, pine nuts etc.. sautéed beforehand.

Re: OT/Burning wood
Cut n burn 25 face cord a winter normally in an air tight wood stove. Outdoor boilers are common in my neck o the woods but I haven’t taken the plunge. Maple is #1 for heat, but we burn more white ash now due to the borer making it readily available. It’s easy to split and has great heat although no...

Re: 2020
In Ontario archery moose hunting opportunities are expanding for 2020. The gun draws are very congested and they’re hoping to convert some hunters to the archery draws. I apply for archery moose every year but can’t wait to see the new draws for 2020 this spring and get planning.

Re: Carrying a wallet while hunting
Go to white water canoeing/tripping section of an outdoors store. Here in Canada MEC is a good one. Pick up a small dry bag for 10-20$. I toss my keys, phone, wallet etc in there and stow it in my pack. Can also keep a dry pair of extra gloves in it. Waterproof even if your pack is submerged.

I’d guess the arrow stopped in the animals body cavity then worked it’s way back and out as the animal ran.

Re: Wasp expandable broadheads
I’ve body shot a couple turkeys with the jackhammers. 100’s and 125’s (I believe). Also put a couple through deer with a compound. I think they’re a good head. They have a trim profile like a field point and open reliably. They’re a bit of a pain to replace blades but I took to resharpening them in ...

Re: Did you use a bait pile to harvest your deer in 2016
I don't hunt with bait as I'm gonna move my stands too much through the season but I like to use a gravity feeder with trail cameras July - early September. I've had good luck with corn, oats and scratch feed (poultry mix) but I find it hard to stay ahead of the raccoons. Once they find a feeder it'...

More concerned that you might elect a circus clown for your next president than I am about any of this. Btw, ever been to Canada or Rome?
