I do those in an iron skillet in butter and garlic.

......
Me too; salt, black pepper, garlic & clarified butter until lightly browned - MMMMmm, MMMMM! That's what I hunt for really, the rest is just a bonus

Re: I'm ALMOST out of venison!

I've done it every way mentioned except I only hung one doe skin on, one time & then only for a week. Boned, not boned, aged, skinned, not skinned etc. nothing made a difference to the taste imho. As long as the person butchering the animal didn't puncture the bowel, bladder or foul the blade on...

Re: More news on the Adams County Ohio illegal hunting opera

Doesn't sound like much more than your run o' the mill scam. Glad they got caught, thieves suck....but I must say; these guys had some big cojones to be doing that. Letting the hunters wander around with permission slips they signed? It makes you wonder what the hunters who ran into the caretaker to...

Re: Scent Lok found guilty!

I don't have a clue if scent lok works/worked or otherwise but I know the military chemical suits that the idea came from help to control body odor. A buddy of mine way back when lived in a state of squalor & the family pumped water straight from a pond to bathe with. They had no way to heat the...

Re: Can anyone ID this snake?

I trust a breeder more than my own internet experience with milk snakes but the color seems to be the one thing you can't go by. I've seen & handled corn snakes that look exactly like the one pictured. I can't see the head well enough to judge that, but the color of both snakes seem to vary grea...

Re: Cost of tags

I wish non-resident tags were higher in Arkansas! We get overrun with Texans every deer season; they've gotten together in groups & leased up huge sections of hunting land in the South of our state, crowding out the local hunters. The southern part of our state also just happens to be where the ...

Re: Natures Way to return to earth

It's a good thing the turkey isn't the national bird for us, we wouldn't be able to hunt it I'm quit sure. The eagle to me is nothing more than a glorified buzzard. Wes  I've called eagles glorified buzzards before myself; nice to meet a fellow enthusiast of linguistic pursuits.

Could be, some variations of both the corn & milk snake are very similar in appearance according to google images; the corn snake is a constrictor...is the milk snake?

Re: very good idea for tree stands

I've been in a situation several times where those would have saved the day (and a lot of strain on my back). The one-man ladder stands aren't too bad, but the 2-man is way too top heavy to control by just putting the base of the ladder against a tree. More than once I've had the ladder base shoot ...

Looks like what is called a "corn snake" to me. Not aggressive & is beneficial in the control of rodents.

Re: Natures Way to return to earth

Interesting bit of trivia for you about the American bald eagle; the fact they are carrion eaters & will steal another animals kill is why Benjamin Franklin wanted the majestic & intelligent TURKEY to be the emblem of the United States in the eagle's stead. He said the turkey was " a mu...

Re: Ground Blind deafness

Our gun season ends loooong before it gets cold here, if it ever does. I was picking ticks off of myself in January a couple years ago.

And no, I don't like muff style anything on my ears & truth be told I probably wouldn't deal well with an in the canal type game ear either.

Re: Ground Blind deafness

Bob, much thanks will see if I can squeeze a nickle or two to get one (hopes my Tinnitis won't interfere). .... Let me know how that electronic hearing aide idea works out for you. I have tinnitus too & was looking at some the other day wondering how well they work (or don't). As far as getting...
