Re: New to crossbows.
I put an axiom on layaway at a local shop. I like the way it feels alot. I just keep thinking what if I get a chance to hunt bigger game like bear will I be better of with the vortex? The axiom is more in my price range but if I spend the extra money maybe I wont second guess weather or not I shoul...

Re: Quiver on bow or not?
I use the stock quiver on the bow. I practise with it on the bow at times and don't find that it affects my shooting. When I get to the tree stand I take it off to reduce wieght a bit. It's simple, cheep, and does the trick.

Re: perth western australia new crossbow laws (now)
Criky! BlackJack, after reading that news release posted by Wheelie I thought of my (your) pocketbook. If the government is collecting crossbows for disposal at local depots, are they paying fair market value for taking the tool that was legal the day before? Likely not. Just another example of puni...

Hunting Gobblers From Treestand
Does anyone on this forum hunt gobblers from a treestand? I've thought about getting into a tree to hunt them this year. Has anyone had any success hunting this way?

Because of insurance? Sounds like a strange answer to me. When was crossbow hunting made legal in N.S.?

I read the headline and stopped there. People who take this position put no thought into the traditions of fishing and hunting and the role they played in evolution.

Re: Regret selling my carved tip exocet
Hey ninepointer, I don't have a Exo 165 but a buddy of mine does, as posted earlier. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said the deer don't notice a difference because I have the newest and bluest equipment but it doesn't put more deer in front of my stand and my pal has killed a heck of ...

Re: Elk Hunting in Ontario
I'm glad to hear that the animal is thriving in the reintroduction area. They say that the reintroduction heard has split into smaller satellite heards that have migrated out of the original reintroduction zone. Also, the tags available will be for limited areas that will split WMUs into smaller are...

Elk Hunting in Ontario
I got some information about the first elk hunt since the reintroduction of the species to Ontario in the 1990's. Is there anyone who is planning on entering the draw for an elk tag on the forum? Will the hunting strategies be similar to what we see on southwestern US hunts (tree stands and bugle ca...

Re: 150 GRAIN MECHANICALS ?
Hey Dash, Why don't you use a 50 gr. threaded brass insert and a 100 gr. mechanical broadhead. The resulting weight is 150 gr. Also, I think the purpose of the 150 gr. Boltcutter is due to reduced accuracy when shooting 100 gr. fixed blade broadheads from high powered crossbows such as Excaliburs. M...

Re: Regret selling my carved tip exocet
I bought a 2009 Ibex, the only crossbow I've ever owned. Then I began hunting with a friend who owns a carved tip Exocet produced in around 1997-8. I couldn't believe how light it was compared to my Ibex (my bow is tricked out with Lumizone and all accessories). He had no problem hitting the practis...

Re: S5 Noise Surpression????
Hi there bowhunter1, The S5 is the string stopper produced/marketed by Excalibur. I've included the link to the Excal page here for you, I'm sure they can explain the system better than I can. Essentially, the string stoppers mount to the riser on either side of the rail with an allen screw that goe...

Re: Toronto Sportsman Show
I got my S5 from Bowshop at the show on Thursday for just under $44.00 taxes in. I also had a good look at the new Axiom at the Excalibur booth, it's a pretty nice looking bow up close.
