Veri-zone super fragile?

At about 2:30 last night my Vortex fell off a plastic tote is was sitting on. That's about a 2 foot fall. I looked it over and everything looked fine. I went back to bed then got up and went hunting. I missed a super nice buck that was probably 20 yards away. At the time I assumed I must have hit a ...

Re: How many came over to excal from compound x-bows?

For years to me a crossbow was cheating. I was a compound bow only guy. I started out with a 86 lb Jennings then slowly dropped poundage over the years from a non archery related shoulder injury. My last bow was a 60 lb Matthews, but that finally became too much. My Excalibur is the only way archery...

Re: Excalibur Mods

The web is full of videos and instructions on working on various firearm triggers. I think the Excalibur trigger video would be fantastic.

Re: insert glue???

I generally use some form of low temp hot melt as well. I have lost a few point in tough targets, but the hot melt is easy to redo if needed.

Re: How to remove inserts???

It can depend on how the original insert was installed. Most times I can screw in an old fieldpoint and head the point with a candle flame. The heat will slowly transfer to the insert and normally lossen the glue to where you can pull the point and insert out with a pair of pliers. Be careful not to...

Re: What grain broadhead for Firebolts

I've never used the X-act broadheads, but 100 grains will give you plenty of energy for black bears. I've taken one with a 100 grain Rocket Steelheads and another with a 100 grain NAP Nitron. Both passed through easily.

Re: Screw-in tree steps and me

I find the Lone Wolf sticks much easier to deal with than screw in steps. I do have the cordless drill piece that makes putting them in easy, but you have to carry the darn drill around with you.

I tried a Treesaddle, but just couldn't get comfortable in one.

Re: What grain broadhead for Firebolts

I use 100 grain broadheads with my Firbolts from my Vortex. I've never tried checking the FOC, but I'm happy with my accuracy.

Re: Mechanical Broadheads

I've been using my old Rocket Steelhead 100 grains. I've only killed one deer with them, but it worked just as well as they always did out of my bow. I don't see how the Steelhead could "not" open on contact.

Re: New Vortex owner

I have a Vortex as well. I found it sooooooo much easier to get set up and sighted in than the compound bows I'd been shooting before I tore my shoulder up.

Re: What broadhead do you use ?

I've been using Steelhead 100 grains with good results. I've got several packs of NAP Nitron 100 grains that I may play with next year.

Re: Fletching problem

If your cronograph test was done near the rail where the bolt leaves the deck like most tests are done, you will not notice a difference in speed between the 4 degree and straight fletch, assuming both weigh the same. Even at 10 yards the speeds should be equal. Down range at 40 yards+ the 4 degree...

Re: Thumbhole vs Traditional stock

I have both i like the way the thumbhole feels but i hate the safety on it i will never get to the point i like it , and i can not reach it with my finger but i would never sell it. I agree about liking the way the thumbhole feels, but hate that I can't reach the safety. I have a Vortex. The safety...
