Re: Keeping an Excalibur ready for action?

[quote="ComfyBear"]No need to spend the kind of money asked for the RealTree hook, just go to any hardware store and get one of those plastic covered bicycle hooks which sale of under a dollar. Thanks for the suggestion but, yep, tried that. Didn't like it. Trying to hang the xbow so it wil...

Re: Keeping an Excalibur ready for action?

Thanks for the tip.

Did you screw it directly behind you at eye level or off to one side?

What length hanger did you use? I want to make sure it's long enough so I wouldn't bump into the xbow while it's hanging.

Keeping an Excalibur ready for action?

This is my first year hunting with my Vortex. I hunted from a ground blind a couple times last week and it was very comfortable sitting there with my xbow resting right beside me, on it's stand, ready to go in an instant. I hunted from one of my ladder stands last Saturday and it got to be very unco...

Congratulations on the doe!
Our season started this past Saturday and I didn't see a thing. Still waiting on my first Excalibur kill.

Re: So close

I'm with ya. 18 hrs and counting here in Gaston Co. NC. Getting closer.

Got my clothes airing out and everything else ready to go out the door early in the morning. ( Assuming my wife don't kill me when she finds out I bought an Excalibur 6 months ago and didn't tell her) :D

Re: Fall tests

i like it..whats the cost of one of those?..i may want to try one. it would be nice to have an option to use whichever one needed or wanted for the situation..or have a spare to let a friend or family memeber use.. The Petzl Aspir that I have costs about $60. I tried others but this one felt the be...

Re: Fall tests

If you can tell from the pics, when hanging the tether is above the center of my body. This puts most of my body's mass below the attachment point. I guess if I had on a heavy pack it could be possible to invert but getting right side up would be easy. I'd just reach up and grab my lifeline and righ...

Re: Fall tests

I finally had a chance to take a few pics of my harness in use. This is while in the stand and waiting. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd66/houser52/IMG_0456.jpg This shows when a deer might be approaching and up for the shot. Notice how the tether is out of the way for any shot to the left, rig...

Re: Fall tests

Strum- As requested here's my test results while wearing the climbing harness- I got my Edelweiss climbing harness today, the one I had posted a picture of, and had a chance to practice self rescue this afternoon. The harness is used for rock climbing, zip lines and climbing in the gym. It's rated f...

Re: Wich small cam ?????

I've had a "Flip" HD video camera for a couple years and it takes great videos. The zoom isn't that much but at x-bow range that's not a problem.

I like your mount idea. Something I need to work on.

Re: Fall tests

Not sure whether I prefer to fall on me noggin' or smash me berries?? Probably less harm done to land on me noggin!!  All kidding aside I have my relief strap preadjusted and attach it to my harness before going into the tree. I also attach my tree strap up high so I wont fall past my tr...

Re: Fall tests

Even though I have never been left hanging I read somewhere that if you can get turned around but can't get to your steps or stand, put your feet against the tree and push off of the tree ever so often. This will keep blood circulating and help with suspension trauma until help arrives. One thing th...
