I really like the colour of the coat and the rack is not too bad either...LOL.
Congratulations!

Re: food plots
Unfortunately they use a Shelterwood Cut system in Ontario and I don't think it opens the canopy enough. There is alot of popular and maple that show up. Maybe the lack of deer is as result of overhunting and heavy winters.

Re: food plots
Great idea and I'd love to do it but I'd never keep the trespassers out of the area once they find out I've got a food plot. I wonder why the MNR doesn't insist on some type of planting after logging operations take place. You could accomplish alot with a food plot after a cut. It's disappointing ho...

Re: O/T - Canadian Gun Registry - Your Thoughts?
Years ago my (laid back) thinking was, "A long gun registry, no big deal, after all we register cars right?" And when I heard people warn that "Registration leads to confiscation.", I thought those folks were the radical fringe. Then it started to happen here. Guns that were leg...

Be nice, just use a valve wrench. Inconenient when they return to their car but not too costly.Doe Master wrote:Not that I would resort to violence but I think four flat tires would be about 500 dollars .

Re: What time of day?
My cameras are catching the deer around 7/8 pm and 4/5 am. Only once or twice do I have any during daylight hours. When I'm hunting most of my sightings are in the evening with only a couple morning sightings. That about sums it up for me too! Unless the winter firms up so they NEED to come to feed...

Very clever! Crossbows took along time to be accepted recently because they're so bloody efficient! IMO

Re: deer getting hit by cars
A friend travelled through Michigan last week and she couldn't get over the number of road killed deer. Could someone explain why? I assume you just have that many more deer?

Re: tree stand question
My plan is to have a cell phone handy at all times and to follow the manufacturers climbing instructions. I've never felt safer in a stand and I'm no HERO! My first ladder stands made me nervous. The Summit is awesome safety-wise as long as you tether to the tree as soon as you start the climb and a...

Re: Deer movement updates
Hunted two evenings this week. Fairly warm for this time of year in Ontario. Not much deer activity in my area. I see tracks and the corn is vacuumed up but I think they've gone even more nocturnal than normal.

Need Some Advice on a Corn Feeder
I've always just tossed some corn on the ground to keep the deer in my area. I don't have access to the corn field nearby. Driving out every other day is expensive and disruptive to the bush I'm sure. Can anyone recommend a little 5 gallon automatic feeder?

Re: How not to get invited back to hunt a property.
Those two hunters don't realize how hard it is to get permission. I used to tell hockey playes I coached. It takes 10 years to build a good reputation and less than 10 minutes to destroy one. I think they just destroyed their opportunity. A landowner opposite to the area I hunt allowed guys on for t...

Man that's every hunter's nightmare. So focused you make a huge error. Hope he recovers fully and quickly. You're right about your cautions. Tragedies like this remind me not to cut corners.

Re: after the rut
I bait heavier and hunt right at legal shooting time. They don't move much before that in my area. Too much pressure last week.
