Re: Packing the Exomax

I bought my exomax in 2011 and find it meets all my hunting needs. I am not a big buy (150 pounds) and have never found it too heavy or awkward to carry.

Re: How old is old

I'm 63 and still hunting every chance that I get. I often wonder where the years went and why they now seem to pass by even quicker.

Re: Opinions favorite deer cart

I use a wheelbarrow; the same one I use for gardening. It gets the job done.

Re: Length of Excalibur ownership?

My first crossbow was an Exomax purchased in 2011. I found it highly effective on deer and it just feels right in my hands. I don't see any point in buying one of the more recent Excalibur models.

Crossbow Mouse Trap

Not exactly a crossbow but cool none-the-less.

Re: How many days have you bow hunted for Deer this season?

I hunted deer 15 times, all on Vancouver Island, and mostly with my Excalibur Exomax. On the 15th hunt, I connected with an old 2X2 buck with hardly a tooth left in its head. He must have been good at gumming his food as there was quite a lot of fat on the carcass. Despite its age, the meat is tende...

Re: exomax

I have only ever owned one crossbow - the Exomax. It is accurate and powerful enough for any game in British Columbia where I live. It is on the wide side, but I hunt mostly from a tree stand so it doesn't matter. I see no reason to change to another crossbow.

Re: OLDER HUNTERS

I too am closing in on 60. I drag the deer a foot at a time through the woods until I reach a trail and then use a wheelbarrow the rest of the way to the truck. If I get tired, I stop and have a rest. When moose hunting, I am usually with my brother who fortunately owns a quad. The moose comes out i...

Re: climbing treestands

I have a Summit Goliath. Been using it for two years now and really like it except I find it uncomfortable when carrying it on my back so I carry it in a wheelbarrow and leave it cached in the woods for days at a time, padlocked with chain to a tree and covered with plastic to keep the seat dry. I r...

Re: No hunting today.

I owned a Volkswagon beetle when I shot my first deer. Not having much in the way of trunk space, I tied it to the roof and drove home and later to the butcher. A few people stared. This was well over 30 years ago when it was relatively common to see deer and moose tied to cars during hunting season.

Re: Rangefinder

I use a Bushnell Legend Arc 1200. When I set-up my portable tree stand I take ranges on several trees so that when a deer comes by I know the range and am ready to go.
