How much will this string stretch!!!

Man! Before last season, I installed a flemish twist string (Excalibur brand) on my Axiom. Shot it a bunch. Adjusted. Shot some more. Adjusted. Repeated several times. Hunted opening weekend - shot a deer. Awesome! Happy. Right before the next weekend, I look and it needs adjusting again. Adjusted, ...

Two weekends in a row - A 7 pointer each time.

I've been hunting since 2002, but have never shot an antlered buck. I've shot a few does in the past, but since moving to TX, I hadn't shot a thing (Sept 2008). This year... that changed. I've got an awesome new hunting spot, and plenty of deer, pigs and turkeys. This is the first year I've hunted w...

Re: My broadhead tipped bolts are all over the place

I realized today that I hadn't come back to update this post. The 150 grain Slick Trick's did the job! I was smacking bullseyes with them in no time, consistently. Today, I took them out for the real test - Opening Day, TX Whitetail Deer season. I shot my (first ever) buck today with one! Not a huge...

Re: New accessories showed up today!

Wow. Just checked on it - The string stretched quite a bit overnight. Moved 1/2" in brace height. I used the cocking rope with the stringer just now - MUCH easier. Put 4 whole twists in it and it's back at 1.5" as the pamphlet said to do. Going to shoot it tonight and see where it's laying...

Re: New accessories showed up today!

but I have to admit - I didn't realize how hard it was to cock one of these by hand with no cocking device. I had to put more muscle into it than I expected! In the dvd it shows them using the rope cocker to change a string. Hopefully that might make it easier on you. Ed Thanks! But what DVD? All t...

New accessories showed up today!

Got some new Slick Trick XBow Tricks, spare blades, a Flemish Twist String, and a bow stringer today. It is SO much faster and easier to use this stringer than what I was doing before (disassembling the bow and using my bow press), but I have to admit - I didn't realize how hard it was to cock one o...

Re: My broadhead tipped bolts are all over the place

I don't buy into the "speed kills" theory so I would rather shoot "heavy" than "fast" - besides, even shooting heavy I'm making 272 fps which is "blistering" compared to my sub-150 fps recurve... Thank you again for your continued assistance. I really appreci...

Re: My broadhead tipped bolts are all over the place

Graham, No problem. Thank you for the continued help. I've never really been a fan of Easton arrows, and I wish I had my reading glasses on to see the Easton logo in the lower right hand corner of the shaft label before I purchased a half-dozen more with the bow package. So now I have 10 of these. G...

Re: My broadhead tipped bolts are all over the place

Glen it sounds like it is the heads. If I understand what you did with your head correctly, that is probably the problem. It sounds like there is not a perfect mating surface with the new ferrules causing the tip of the head be "off axis" with the center axis of the arrow. Here is an easy...

Re: My broadhead tipped bolts are all over the place

galamb, I'm using what came with the bow - Excalibur Firebolt bolts. I've been an archer for a great number of years - both traditional (longbow and recurve) and modern compound. This is my first crossbow. I thought it would be easier. That was a mistake in thinking, as I've never had any of my othe...
