Re: Other outdoors pursuits...
My wife bought a prime rib for Xmas last year from a major chain grocery store and it wasn't fit to eat. Fed the left overs to the dogs. Mostly eat deer meat (cube steak, hamburger, or sausage) or fish we caught. Occasional steak, ribs, or salmon from the store.

Re: Wireless GPS tracking thoughts
Sounds kind of like an EPIRB or personal locator beacon. Don't know much about how that stuff works though.

Re: Other outdoors pursuits...
When I was growing up we would take a cooker to the river, catch some fish, and fry them with french fries. Usually bring some cole slaw and pickles or something. The place we went to do it is now a park and you can't go there anymore. It's too easy to get caught up in the competition aspect of fish...

Re: Help or harm you tell me
There have always been irresponsible people where I have hunted, responsible ones too though. Sure it's like that everywhere. It has always got me down to hunt around people who don't seem to care and wound a lot of animals though. A lot of guys I know got the cheaper brands of crossbows and are not...

Re: 50+ yrd shot!
Must weigh in once more on this topic. If someone is comfortable making 50 yard shots, great. It aint me, but I know people are out there that practice at long range all the time and know their limitations. Cross bows just became legal for bow season in my state, so I'm not as familiar with it. For ...

Re: Other outdoors pursuits...
Almost anything outside. Taking time out of bow season to go out in the gulf tomorrow after gag and red grouper and sea bass. (I'd give away an AJ long before I would a king - personal preference I suppose) Favorite fishing is gulf offshore and taking my son and his friends to our pond for bream and...

Re: 50+ yrd shot!
I call them irresponsible unless the shooter is 100% confident at that yardage. It must not bother them to loose animals.MADMAX2 wrote:I call those shots luck!!

Re: One... How much accuracy should I expect?
Gave up on local shops. Never have just what I need and too pricey. Order almost everything from Cabelas or other. Just started with Axiom this year. Have been using factory fps and boltcutters and accuracy has not been a problem. Mostly snuff can groups to 40 yrds. Little or no change between fp an...

You could shoot them with a paint ball gun. That would be different.

Re: Back Home
We have pickeral around where I live, don't know if they are chain or grass, but most people call them jack fish. Tried eaten them - good but too bony. Probably not a pickeral/walley within 800 miles.

Re: Human Scent
Another complex and ongoing issue. You want to do things that will increase your chances and don't kid yourself about it. I learned very early in my deer hunting career that it helps to take showers and wear clean clothes. Of that I have absolutely no doubt. I don't think the special soap matters as...

Re: Back Home
My Dad's best friend lives at Kenora on a small Island on Lake of the Woods. Visited him when I was young and he took us pickeral fishing. The only time I have ever caught them as we don't have them in Florida. Very good eating as I remember. Didn't know they were the same as Walleye for years and y...

He looks like his dad, which I always think is a good sign.
