Re: How to take out the trigger assembly

Here you go "jeshoffstall", my instructions posted here earlier on how to remove the trigger assembly. Remove the scope mount from the crossbow. Looking at the bottom of the crossbow you will see two allen screws, one in the forestock and one directly in front of the trigger (there is an ...

Re: re:new trigger question

I am ok with the price, I am ok with the exchange and really, really want the hunting model. However, how difficult will it be for a user to remove the existing trigger assembly/install the new one? Will instructions be provided? What is the turnaround? Love that it is coming out in Sep, but that is...

Re: scope adjustment

Just to clarify, your turrets are to get your crosshairs dialed in at 20 yards. Once you are on at twenty, replace the caps tight and leave them be. To drop your 30, 40 and 50 yard groups into POI you will need to turn the dial down on the speed ring. My vortex, with firebolts and 125 gr heads has t...

Re: Is the S5 system worth the $$$

Ok, you talked me into it. Picked one up at Bass Pro. Easy to install, my string is about a string length away from the rubber. It does seem to quite the bow. I did notice, however, that is dropped my POI about 1/2" at 20 yards (consistant over six shots at different dots). No worries, one clic...

Is the S5 system worth the $$$

Picked up a Vortex last year and absolutely love it. Was looking at the S5 system, but they are running between $40-$50.

For those of you that have it, is it worth it? Would you do it again?

Thanks,
Jack

Re: Curious

Shoulder problems were one of the reasons I chose to start hunting with a crossbow this year. I have a partial torn rotater cuff, and even though I can still shoot my Hoyt Vectrix set at 62#, I can only do so a couple of arrows at at time, a couple of times a week. Any more than that and my shoulder...

Re: Keeping an Excalibur ready for action?

The last two weekends I hunted a variety of lock ons and ladder stands. I used my realtree bow hanger and it worked like a champ. Screwed it in at eye level standing, hung it by the stirrup and when I sat the thumbhole stock was right at easy-reach level!!

Re: Getting set up with a new Crossbow

Just sighted in with the 125 gr Rage "crossbow" heads today. Holy smokes they shoot to the same POI as 125 field points and grouped tighter (used the same arrow over with the same vane down for consistancy. Off a solid rest and sand bags I can put both the field points and the rage practic...

Re: Ok, what is the hype over the thumbhole stock?

Thanks all, makes sense. I have not shot this thing off hand enough to notice the improvement in stability but i can see how it would help!!

Ok, what is the hype over the thumbhole stock?

Seems the thumbhole versions in each weight class are talked about 10:1 over the regular stocks on this and other forums. I picked up a Vortex which I love shooting on the bench, but after a weekend in the woods I think a Exocet would be easier to handle. Is there a benefit to hunting with the thumb...

For those of you using Leupold Shotgun Scopes...

Set up top intersection 20, cross hair 30, bottom intersection 40 - what magnification are you using to get that alignment at around 300 FPS. I got a Vortex Xbow that I love, but not a fan of the shadowzone scope that came with it. Curious as to how the magnification compares - don't want it to high...

Re: Hypothetical "Dry Fire" question

Feels great to be part of such an elite group!! I did the cottonball test, no snags. Did check all screws, everything is tight. Did change to a new string, just to be safe (thanks Scott!) and oh my what a difference. I thought the old sting was ok because the brace height remained stable. Put when I...

Re: Hypothetical "Dry Fire" question

Well, went back down and looked at the bow real close under some good light. There appears to be very small "fractures" on the left limb - no idea if they were there before the deadly sin was committed. Is this something I need to be concerned about or is this just from normal shooting? Th...

Hypothetical "Dry Fire" question

So...let's say a new owner - caught up in the way their new Vortex is slinging bolts at 40 yards - forgets to load a bolt and pulls the trigger. After having the crap scared out of me..err them, the find the string laying 15 feet away. I restrung, tried to get my brace hight close to where it was, c...
